You said the "obvious" conclusion was that the Flu numbers were misreported as Covid.
misquoted again
stop that

the obvious conclusion is a huge number of flu deaths were reported as Covid deaths.
this is quite different from your misquote

There were 1.2M recorded deaths due to COVID in the US.
Which amounted to 1-1.5% of the diagnosed and reported COVID cases. (Mind you many millions were undiagnosed because they did not get official testing done).
According to you Flu numbers were massively misreported as Covid.
misquoted again,
stop that
although you are a little closer this time
again you use stats with errors of unknown quantities , although you ascribe looser precision this time.

the obvious conclusion is a huge number of flu deaths were reported as Covid deaths.

So the obvious conclusion from your statement is that if they were not due to COVID, they were due to the Flu.
no!
the obvious conclusion is none can ascribe the precision to covid statistics that you did

So pick your pandemic before you engage in your mental gymnastics.
??? WTF???
you decided to label 'mis-information by citing precision in statistics which contain errors of unknown quantity
that is not my fault

perhaps you need a safety net when confronted by "mental gymnastics" that most others refer to as common sense or critical thinking
questioning status quo narratives is important
the proof is when it triggers the loonies into additional foolish mistakes like defending you precission
increase a published value by 451% and claim "it makes only a tiny difference"

Alternatively, how would you explain 1.2M deaths?
a subset of the 3 million that occur annually in the US likely skewed upwards by covid infections

As usual you fail to make any sense at all.
to you perhaps, but common sense is not your strong suit
still struggling with the connection between illegal and criminal ?

people who wore mask and social distance still got infected... there was no scientific basis it will work.
There was also no guarantee that it would be 100% effective. Barriers have been proven to work and the efficacy of many different types of masks were tested. Do you believe in using condoms?

..treating symptoms was the way to go. fear mongering put people in panic mode...
Maybe you've heard the saying, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."

By talking about fear mongering are you implying that Covid is/was innocuous? There was no potential for death?

MRNA vaccines have been in research for the last 50 years.
MRNA vaccines were not the only vaccines either.
Many COVID vaccines were vector vaccines, and vector vaccines have been around for decades.
oh so the only difference was the lockdowns and face diaper mandates then?
either this bug was different or it was not

It was completely your personal choice to get the vaccine.
But if your personal choice was going to harm someone else, then we have a problem.
pick one or the other
you are fence sitting on the logic when you clearly have staked a position

Hence why many organizations, especially one where you'd come into contact with vulnerable people required their employees to get the vaccine, or quit.
I say in a pandemic it is fair to do that.
government is not just any organization and our govt demonized people for wanting a choice

like most I choose to comply, however I respect the choice of others not to
I was disgusted by how these people were attacked by the wokesters

the demand other must get an injection were even more alarming

it was a virus...infects like flu, symptoms of flu the over reaction was unwarranted... the lockdowns made it worst...you can also wear mask to not get flu...and people are still dying of flu

it was a virus...infects like flu, symptoms of flu
Are you saying that all viruses work the same and that the risks and symptoms of getting infected is the same for all viruses?

the lockdowns made it worst
And if the virus is spread through the air, how can keeping people away from each other/lockdowns possibly make the spread worse? People were not occupying the same air space, they weren't sharing the same air.

AIDS is also a virus and we use condoms, a barrier. But they are not a 100% guarantee.

You said "The obvious conclusion is that a huge number of Flu deaths was reported as Covid deaths".
I claimed that you said that "Flu deaths were misreported as covid deaths".
They are one and the same!
Reporting Flu deaths as covid deaths is an act of misreporting.
I take the official numbers of deaths as precise.
Doctors know who was sick - the tests prove that.
And then when they die, the doctors know that they died due to the disease they were just diagnosed with.
I dont know why you would doubt the precision of such data.
And while questioning the precision of the data you make a very authoritative comment that it is "obvious that a huge number of Flu deaths were reported as Covid deaths".
How do you know this?
Because your graph didn't show as many deaths in 2020-2021?
As I showed, there are other reasons for it.
Such as masks, lockdowns and social distancing. Turns out they do help in reducing incidences of Covid AND the Flu.

Lockdowns, masks, social distancing and vaccines.
Those were the primary reasons.
And you were talking about how you were apprehensive because the vaccine was made so fast.
It was because the research was already available.
You had the choice to take the vaccine or not.
Yes I respect a person's choice to not get a vaccine and I agree that some people online engaged in calling people names for not getting vaccinated.
But in their defence, the world was facing a pandemic that had killed millions.
When people refuse to comply, it adversely affects others as well.

exactly that...it was a virus like flu...locking the economy down was ineffective...
"Like" does not mean exactly the same.

It may have been unpopular but one cannot declare that it was ineffective without substantiation. Are you saying that you know for a fact what the death toll would have been without a lockdown and/or mask mandate? Nobody in the world knows what the numbers would have been. Anybody who says they do know is making huge assumptions and speculating.

just like you're making assumptions it would've been bigger without the lockdowns...
