After a 10 year court battle, the docks neighbours finally lost their liquor license for breaking city noise bylaws. Where are all the people fucked up on E and GHB gonna hang out now. On a positve note, my boat parties should dramatically increase.

It's been good to know ya
After this some other residents may start complaining about other clubs. I think that is crummy for club owners. I wonder who was there first the club or the residents because in my opinion when you buy property you know if you buy it around a club or not and can chose where you reside and who really wants to party in a quiet place it just goes hand in hand together.

I think the residents were there first..but nice try..or maybe we should get rid of all the residents so that we can open up clubs and turn this town into a one stop party center..

funny how they can pay out 39 million in taxes and can't find a solution to the noise problem. Maybe I can offer my services to find a solution..I'm cheap I'll only charge them 20 million for the solution.

I am all for closing anything that encourages drugs and alcohol, it's frightening to be at the docks and see all those cars at night. I can't imagine how people get home safely, or why the cops don't do more spot checks. At the Guv. it's expected some people OD every night; I've always wondered how many people have died there over the years, it goes unreported.

Maybe, but I'm sure that when they built the docks the city promised and gave them a liqour license. So if I was the docks I would sue the city for lost income.

Wont hold up in court, they were given a liquor license on the condition they held their noise decibel level to a fixed number.
They didnt comply and continued to play loud music.
Then the city came in with decibel counters, which were found to be far above acceptable limits. They were then given a warning which wasnt headed and now they lost their license.

I say the owner got what he deserved.

I'm guessing they'll get their license back on appeal with the strict condition they keep noise to a minimum.

residents will be given ear plugs...courtesy of the Docks.haha
Fuck it, I mean I used to like going there to club, but it gets way too packed (fire codes are broken, no doubt), it's a bitch to park (and expensive).
I won't miss it. I'll just hit the clubs downtown or outside the city.

In a very dark place
The Ontario AGC controls the liquor permits not the city. I do not know the details of this situation but perhaps the city undertook to help them obtain one but I can't see how the city would be so stupid as to enter into an agreeement that would gaurantee one being issued by another part. Seems odd that they would expose themselves to non performance risk like that.

MA-DE-LINE...
It's a club/entertainment complex.
Wicked pick-up joint on the club nights, errr oh ya, they won't be having those anymore. ;-)
Weekends daytime, great place to chill have a drink, errr oh ya, no more alcohol, okay, so there's Sprite, Coke, WATER. :p
I'm kinda sick of it, so I won't be missing it at all.

Sunday afternoon is the best time to go. Its like euro theme, with tons of beautifult women walking around, hanging out. I"m talking about more than your regular girls in malls etc. Its like they hide out somewhere and only go out to the docks.
Guess there wont be nemore of that happening this year.

They'll sell water and drugs and open the doors to all ages. The dealers are probably celebrating.

Hmmmm guess they'll go all ages. This might breathe some life back into the rave scene.

But this is stupid I was watching a thing on city tv where they are discussing the issue. The closest residence is 1 km (Across the water on the island) according to the show.

I have friends that live a few doors down from the Comfort Zone and they pump music 24 hours on the weekends. Where do you draw the line. Lots of people live beside patios or bars.

I used to live in the club district and 3 to 4 am you'd hear people screaming in the streets, still partying in parking lots.

If these people can afford to live in that area (king spadina) they can close their windows and use AC.

Some of the responses are pretty harsh. The island residents have had to put up with extreme noise night after night, all summer long. I live not far from the Docks, and trying to get any sort of shut eye would be virtually impossible if you were downwind of that BASS. Now imagine that night after night and you have no control over your own airspace.

I think it's a great decision and perhaps a beginning to taking noise problems more seriously.
