This list may be incomplete, I haven't seen Darkest Hour, The Shape of Water and Phantom Thread yet. It's all subjective.

5. Lego:Batman
4. Wind River
3. Dunkirk
2. Get Out!
1. Logan

Breakout Star: Alison Williams. What she brought to Get Out! caught me completely by surprise - she's put the rimming scene from Girls behind her.

I've seen a few episodes of Girls meh. Consider how the careers of Christian Bale and Anne Hathaway went playing a similar role, she'll be able to pick and choose her roles.

Get out! came just short of being the best film of the year, but I wondered where Jordan Peele got his inspiration from?

Hard to find recommendations I can trust, thanks.

But, from Stanhope to Fargo, you're Mr. Reliable.

Yeah Wind River was definitely one of my top three. Dunkirk is in there too. Maybe Get Out to round out the podium.

Happy New Year:

I was going to pick just three but there were other films that deserved mention. Couldn't pick between two films featuring Canadians: Lego:Batman or Wonder. The Later gets honourable mention due to Vancouver's Jacob Tremblay performance, it's a feel good film that never plunges into schmaltz due to him. The Lego: Batman film shows how ruderless DC/WB are without Nolan. Toronto's Will Arnett would have killed as a live action Batman.

Obviously Nolan and Hardy are best buds, I laughed at the matinee idol moment Nolan gave him at the end of Dunkirk. We can expect to see them work together again - Hardy has said he'll only play 007 if Nolan directs.

There is lots of movies i have yet to see from 2017 but among the ones i saw here is my 2 favourites

1) John Wick 2

Very close to the first one, bad ass, everything i hoped for and more for a movie that didn't really needed or had us expect a sequel.

2) Boyka : Undisputed

Excellent film d'art martiaux, presque aussi bon que Undisputed 3, un excellent showcase du talent de Scott Adkins

There is a lot i have yet to watch like Kingsman 2, IT, Get Out and many mores. Also i would have to take a look at my lists of movies to really make a full list as i watch a lot of Direct to Video movies in the martial arts genre but i had fun this year with cinema.

Wind River was an excellent movie. I don't watch war movies and cartoons movies (except looney tunes) , so I cannot comment on the rest.

I enjoyed Wick II as well, but I thought it suffered from being set directly after the first. There was no feeling of the disruption of his current life which to me was a major dramatic element of the first.

That was the best performance I ever saw from Sam Rockwell. I'd like to see him get a Supporting Actor nomination.
