At the moment, Sam Rockwell is one of two front runners for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar, the other is LilRel Howery who brought great comic timing to Get Out! The rest are pick ems.

If WB/DCU wants to be taken seriously it's time to shitcan Ben Affleck as Batman, and replace him with Will Arnett. The Lego - Batman Movie was better than the rest of their output including Wonder Woman.

Of course us Trana types would fap over Will Arnett as The Dark Knight...and have Edgar Wright direct it. That's what I would do.

This list may be incomplete, I haven't seen Darkest Hour, The Shape of Water and Phantom Thread yet. It's all subjective.

5. Lego:Batman
4. Wind River
3. Dunkirk
2. Get Out!
1. Logan

Breakout Star: Alison Williams. What she brought to Get Out! caught me completely by surprise - she's put the rimming scene from Girls behind her.
Agree with "Dunkirk". (Admittedly still waiting with great anticipation for 'Phantom Thread")

There is no top 1 through 10. Just 10 films that were well made, directed, written, acted and worth your time:

"The Big Sick"

"3 billboards outside ebbing, missouri"

"The Villainess"

"The Florida Project"

"The Shape of Water"

"Call me by your Name"

"Okja"

"A Fantastic Woman"

"The Square"

That was the best performance I ever saw from Sam Rockwell. I'd like to see him get a Supporting Actor nomination.
Rockwell was fantastic and fully deserving of the recognition an Oscar nomination will get him. Richly deserved.

The Best Supporting Actor Oscar this year will go to the great Willem Dafoe for 'The Florida Project'. Not only is he deserving of the film but Hollywood loves to play their politics.

Dafoe has had a great career, no scandals to speak of and he is due for this award at this point in time.

I haven't seen The Big Sick yet, Ray Romano being in the film was a turn off. Kumal Nanjiani is funny as hell in Silicon Valley.

I will be seeing Gigli's The Shape of Water next. Some are saying that his protege Andres Muschietti, will get a Director nom for IT.

I really like his short film...don't drink anything while watching this!

Biggest surprise for me was Baby Driver.

Loved Spiderman and GotG 2. And Thor as well.

I have several smaller films to get through over the next few months.

Absolutely, it's not that much of a surprise, Edgar Wright wrote and directed the film. That's why, if they're going to be any more Batman films, he should make them. He was supposed to make the Ant Man film but left over creative differences. DCU shouldn't pass on the opportunity to hire a talented young director. While I admit that Ben Affleck is a handsome man, as an actor he sucks gaping ass.

Not one of the best, but a decent movie I saw last night. Its the true story of a very young Canadian journalist that goes to Somalia to become someone in times that no journalist would go because of wars and pirates..... Al Pacino and Melanie Griffith are temporary show ups, the main character is Evan Peters and Barkhad Abdi (known for his nomination in Captain Philips)

"In 2008, rookie journalist Jay Bahadur forms a half-baked plan to embed himself among the pirates of Somalia. He ultimately succeeds in providing the first close-up look into who these men are, how they live, and the forces that drive them."

i would also give kudos to a great cast - Kevin Spacey, Jamie Foxx, Jon Bernthal and a few hot babes!

Thanks for your positive review...watched Baby Driver and GotG 2, quite accelerating and enjoyed both.

Still a CK fan, I would like to see that film, is it on Netflix.

With substantial roles in Baby Driver and Wind River, Jon Bernthal is quite hot at the moment.

Chris Stuckmann's list of best films of 2017, he has some surprises and films I've never heard of. Happy to see Carla Cugino make the list, her sex appeal tends to overshadow her talent.

Some actors are dependent on their looks to have a career. For Carla Cugino, her looks may have held her back.

She's a far better actor than what her credits suggest, it all goes back to 2005...she passed on Crash.

This clip could be deleted soon:

Loveless is a good Russian movie. Must watch for anyone who considers marrying a Russian.

The Villanous from Korea is an excellent action film. The last half hour of Wind River is the best of the year. Carla Gugino in Gerald's Game was fantastic.
