I can only extrapolate as I don't know many girls in the industry, and of those I know well enough to tell, only one to my knowledge is a heavy consummer. They are probably as many reasons as to why working girls do drugs as to why other people do drugs.BallzDeep said:

Which leads me to believe that Kyra is right in thinking that there's not really more drug consumption in this industry than in others. It's just more accepted and less hidden.
Also, I think there might be a significant difference in drug consumption among different age groups. I wouldn't be surprised that there is more consumption and abuse among the 18-20 years old than among the older escorts, just as I see more drug/alcohol abuse among undergrads than grad students.
The only way that I think the biz has changed me is the same way in which working in any service industry would have affected me: when I'm off-the-clock, I am not particularly inclined to cater to other people's needs and desires (except for those people that I truly care about), and I may have a little less patience than before for people who expect me to be always nice and smilling.
For instance, I recently got 'ordered' by a random stranger at the grocery store to smile: "a pretty girl like you, you would be so much prettier with a smile". Now, that happened to me before, and it pissed me off then too. But when it happened recently, it took all my self-control to not tell him off and ask him who the fuck he thinks he is to order me to smile and why should I give a fuck to be more 'pretty' for him.

For those with contacts in the porn biz, is Belladonna and Rocco S. correct when they say the overwhelming majority of porn stars who have been performing in the biz for a while have all contracted herpes (which would explain why they don't even test for it)?
Do agencies advise some of their SP talent that they will be slightly understating their actual age with a younger age online (by i.e. 24 = 20, 27 = 23, etc.)? Is the SP expected to play along if their clients ask their age in person (to see if it matches as advertised)?

Given my current schedule and life commitments outside this business, incalls are preferable and more convenient for me right now. I can easily go to and from the incall on my own if all the drivers are busy somewhere else, less time spent in the car, I can work daytimes rather than evenings mostly, and to my surprise, I actually like the half hour appointments: the "afternoon quicky" aspect adds an element of dirtyness to the encounter that I'm fond of. As for feeling safer (the "hidden icepick"), I do think there's an element of it as well. Interestingly, I've never felt unsafe, or at risk more than I think I should when I was doing outcalls. Nor do I feel completely safe and sans-risk doing incalls.
(Someone which I'm too lazy now to google has written a book on this: how women should listen to their fear, even when it sounds irrational, because listening to that irrational voice is often what saves us (human beings, women included) from danger. Or put differently, when you become too complacent in your safety and security, you stop paying attention to those little details that would tell you that something is not quite right.)
But when I started doing incalls, I did sense a slight but significant enough change in the dynamic of my dates: probably mostly because I feel more in control of 'my' territory as I am the host, rather than the guest.
