Got to hand it to Springer. When I saw his first "at bat" I wondered how the heck Schneider could put him in the line-up.

Then came his gutsy performances at the plate for the rest of the game despite the obvious pain he was suffering.

A lot of "what ifs" in the game, especially that Barger "dead ball" in the 9th...

If the Jays lose the WS, it was still a remarkable season; no one expected them to get this far, from last in 2024 to WS in 2025. They will be hanging the 2025 AL Championship pennant at Rogers Centre.

Took the bat away from Springer. Another Springer Dinger for the WS win, gone. But I heard the post-game press conference, Schneider says his team isn't down, they feel confident.
I know, was hyped Springer was on deck until that bullshit happened.

Straight up. Runner on 2nd n 3rd, no one out.bottom 9th. I was expecting the world series to be won, or the very least extra innings. And we got Zelch... hard pill to swallow.

You gotta know where those fielders are...Third base coach has to be yelling that out.

Clemente needs to be patient there.
In one of the post game interviews he acknowledged that he knew the outfielder
was playing short. He should know Springer is on deck and at least give him an at bat.

People said Dodgers bullpen was their weakness, but with Sasaki, Wrobleski, Dreyer and Klein it looks pretty good to me

I think Dominquez, Varland, and Fluharty could all be counted on to get some outs tonight. (roles below)

There are 6 other pitchers beyond those that you I can see as options tonight in various specific roles, some very limited.. The only guys we for sure will not see any game time are Gausman and Little.

1. Schneider loves Varland and he has been :OK" so I would be surprised to see him
2. Dominquez is reliable enough if he is facing righties. (lefties with power is an issue for him) There could be a lane for him do get you 3 outs between the #4-#9 hitters.
3. Fluharty 3rd-7th inning they still probably ride Fluharty against Ohtani-smith-Freeman if there is a need for somebody. Mixed results, but middle innings still a good enough option..
4. They might squeeze in Lauer in a lane where there is 2 lefty batters out of 3 if its before the 6th inning.

Longer shots
5. Trey Yesavage for one inning. (an unlikely one, given that they appear to have enough options, but still a possibility)
6. Braydon Fisher - this is nightmare scenario in inning 1-3 where Scherzer is struggling. Fisher since he is quick to warm up, is the guy to get one out to close the inning, and then Bieber or Lauer can come in clean to start the next inning.

In my view you are getting mad at nothing. The key runner is Barger, the tying run. What happens to Straw is irrelevant.
If the ball bounces off the wall, Barger ends up at second. *** If the ground rule didn't exist, Deeb grabs it right away and Barger still probably stays at second.

Its still the same scenario either way. Barger is at 2nd with 0 outs. The issue is Jays execution, and not the rule.

*** I put stars above because one could argue that Barger might get to third if Deeb had to grab it out of the gap in the wall. And that proves why the rule exists and is not controversial- its nonsense that Barger makes it to third because of a wall malfunction.

Was a heads-up play by the fielder to not pick up the ball.
Deeb's reaction literally made no difference. You could see the left field umpire wave it a dead ball immediately. The video review also confirmed the lodging.

Even if Deeb had run to the wall, grabbed it out of the wall, and Barger somehow made it to 3rd (which I'm not convinced he would have) the umpires would have forced Barger back to second.
