That's surprising I didn't expect this coming into this season. I guess the league figured him out. Now it's his turn to outsmart them again. Hopefully he's capable of that. For some reason, those tattoos on his hands make him look so hittable now lol I'm not sure why that is exactly.

Philip
You might be on to something with those tattoos. (maybe not joking)
He could be tipping his pitches -- and if he is tipping pitches with something with his hand, the tattoos create a moving point on his hand that makes it even easier for a batter to track than bare skin.

Keegan Matheson was on TSN Overdrive on Monday afternoon and didn't mention that the Jays were out of options regarding Francis. In fact, he stated his opinion that Francis should remain a starter whether it's with the Jays or with the Bisons. He feels Francis starting for the Bisons is better than Francis being in the bullpen with the Jays. I tried to attach a link to the interview.

Re: Bowden Francis Options status:

Rule, re: options:

www.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/minor-league-options

The skinny: A player can be optioned an unlimited number of times within any one season. If the player spends 20 days in the Minors in a given season, he loses one of his options. Players have three seasons during which they can be optioned.

Francis was obtained from Milwaukee Brewers, with Trevor Richards, in a trade for Rowdy Tellez, (July 6, 2021), prior to his Major League debut. Check the transactions listed at the bottom of the page for either of the first two links.

I don't know if rehab assignments count in the '20 days' rule. If they do, Francis has 20 or more days in the minors in each of 2022-2024, so he'd be out of options.

What a dumb move pulling Chad Green for Hoffman.

Yes I know it worked, but now you can't use Hoffman tomorrow

Schneider said he wasn't going to use Hoffman tomorrow anyway because he had been at least warming up in the bullpen. But I agree with you, I got a bad feeling when Schneider came out of the dugout The good news is the team is winning despite his fuck-ups.

HaHa!!! A caller on Jays talk just called Atkins a genius. My how winning changes things(unless the caller was Atkins in disguise).

Eric Lauer was announced as tomorrow's starter.

.....this makes a lot of sense. Plus now he just looks like some mortal alternative dude that should be in a band somewhere, rather than that mysteriously crafty, loose, clever pitcher from last season.

Nothing against tattoos, as I am the proud owner of two of them lol.

Crazy how the Jays have been the best team for a few weeks with one of the best offences LOL

but can they keep this up? They will need Vlad and Sandman to do their job and hit homers

Notice we went on this streak after Sandman was put on injury list. That is not a coincidence

I still have a hard time believing that the Jays have won 13 of their last 16 games and are hitting incredibly well. All this hitting with Santander injured + being a bust so far, and Vladdy belting few homeruns but still contributing at the plate. I'm kinda on the bandwagon again but the lack of starting pitching is apt to catch up to them soon. Only 3 reliable starters right now.

Is it just me or are there more weekday games (not on a holiday) than usual this year?

The dumb move was pulling Bassitt too early, then pulling Fluharty too early. They should have been able to get you through the end of the game, instead of having to use that trash heap Chad Green in the first place.

That being said once Green got them to 2 outs in the ninth, it made no sense to then bring in Hoffman.

It's very common for most teams to play weekday games on the last day of a mid-week series, (ie: on a Wednesday or a Thursday), if it's the last game of a homestand, AKA 'getaway day', because both teams will be traveling after the game.

This is less common when the home team plays in Texas, because it's too hot for afternoon games, for both players and fans. The Rangers typically play Sunday home games at night throughout July and August.

Midweek afternoon games are more common early and late in the season for teams based in the north and for San Francisco, because of the difference between day and night temperatures.

Some of this involves television revenue. Fans who don't work in white collar management usually can't watch a mid-week afternoon game during business hours unless they're retired or unemployed, and the retired demographic doesn't matter much to TV advertisers.

The big difference as I see it is the supporting cast has stepped up making us a deeper and more dangerous hitting lineup. Guys like Barger and Clement. Kirk and Springer have been consistent most of the season. Middle relief has also fared much better than I thought. But this hot streak will definitely come to an end, we are not this good. And our thinness at SP is a real problem.

Vlad and Sandman have to start doing the heavy lifting on offence but the Barger, Clement, Kirk and Springer cast looks real
and you forgot to mention Heinman hitting over 400 with OPS over 1000. He is a key as they can now safely rest Kirk

If Jays are contending they will go after the pitching they need as management tries to save their job LOL

Surprisingly, we are looking good but I feel this team can go south fast but now we see they can go the other way
