One of a handful of prospects coming in a couple of years.

He's a 25 year old in Double A who had an ERA of about 5.00 before the game. He is a minor league filler who had a career game. Perhaps he is better than Bowden Francis right now but that is a low bar passed by many.. They will go to Adam Macko first, and then I assume make a trade at the deadline if hanging around still.

We need pitching and we apparently have some decent prospects in lower leagues (Single A), but they won't be ready this year or probably next either.

These two were bumped up from Dunedin to Vancouver a few weeks ago.
I've seen a bunch of Yesavage highlights, he's the real deal.

Yep he seems like the real thing. He's not making it this year, but the way he is going he could be up at some point next year. Hope he doesn't hit the surgical knife at any point like our other prospects in recent years.

We have just had some real bad luck with A grade pitching prospects this decade with injuries or decline -- Nate Pearson, Ricky Tiedeman, Jake Bloss, Alek Manoah (after a great year though).

Francis needs to be Buffalo bound. His fastball has no life on it this year!
I think (but I could be wrong), that he has no minor league options left. Wasn't able to find anything definitive.

Which makes demoting him a tough call for the Jays, because as a minimum contract and given his performance last year, he would certainly be claimed off waivers by somebody.

I suppose the best answer is to bury him in long relief, and work on the sidelines. Or perhaps get an "injury", and then do some injury rehab.

Keegan Matheson was on TSN Overdrive on Monday afternoon and didn't mention that the Jays were out of options regarding Francis. In fact, he stated his opinion that Francis should remain a starter whether it's with the Jays or with the Bisons. He feels Francis starting for the Bisons is better than Francis being in the bullpen with the Jays. I tried to attach a link to the interview.

My play Up Me Kilt Kirk, was only staged once.

Our Capitan will never face such indignity.

Team is playing really good ball except for Bowden Francis.
That's surprising I didn't expect this coming into this season. I guess the league figured him out. Now it's his turn to outsmart them again. Hopefully he's capable of that. For some reason, those tattoos on his hands make him look so hittable now lol I'm not sure why that is exactly.

You might be on to something with those tattoos. (maybe not joking)
He could be tipping his pitches -- and if he is tipping pitches with something with his hand, the tattoos create a moving point on his hand that makes it even easier for a batter to track than bare skin.

Re: Bowden Francis Options status:

Rule, re: options:

www.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/minor-league-options

The skinny: A player can be optioned an unlimited number of times within any one season. If the player spends 20 days in the Minors in a given season, he loses one of his options. Players have three seasons during which they can be optioned.

Francis was obtained from Milwaukee Brewers, with Trevor Richards, in a trade for Rowdy Tellez, (July 6, 2021), prior to his Major League debut. Check the transactions listed at the bottom of the page for either of the first two links.

I don't know if rehab assignments count in the '20 days' rule. If they do, Francis has 20 or more days in the minors in each of 2022-2024, so he'd be out of options.

What a dumb move pulling Chad Green for Hoffman.

Yes I know it worked, but now you can't use Hoffman tomorrow

Schneider said he wasn't going to use Hoffman tomorrow anyway because he had been at least warming up in the bullpen. But I agree with you, I got a bad feeling when Schneider came out of the dugout The good news is the team is winning despite his fuck-ups.

HaHa!!! A caller on Jays talk just called Atkins a genius. My how winning changes things(unless the caller was Atkins in disguise).

Eric Lauer was announced as tomorrow's starter.
