I don't know what they are going to do re JB, I just hope he is allowed to leave with respect and dignity!
I don't want him dumped! Reality says the Jays won't pick up his option. I hope the Jays approach him before he is released and find out his intentions. If he is going to retire then offer him a position within the Jays organization, If he still believes he can play, do a joint news conference and wish him well. The man was "The Guy" here for a number of years! Not sure what you mean by this.

I hope you are wrong and he retires while we still have fond memories in a Blue Jay uniform. I agree he could still get picked up and given a contract with a lot of bonuses in it but IMO the time has come to enjoy the good life. He received $18,500, 000. U.S. this year while living in Canada, he can't need the money. If he signs for "cheap money", I would think it would have to be with a team that has a shot at winning it all and that may include the Jays. There's no question he thinks he can still play and will look to find a suitor. Having said that, JB is smart enough to know after the last year the market for him was quite thin at his asking price, and because of his performance this year, it will be thin to zero at whatever a team is willing to give him. There's usually one team that's willing to gamble for cheep money, and despite such a bad year, there might be still something left in the tank so they roll the dice for a few million, but that seems to be happening less and less.
think JB got to greedy. He knew coming off the 2015 season hype, he was at the pinnacle of his hype/marketability. After hitting the big home run against Texas and the two clutch ones against KC, he tired to strong arm the club by coming out in spring training 2016 and demanded 5 years at 125 million. That was to much. The club might have bit on something like 3 years between 60 and 75 million.

ThisA non-slugging slugger is a waste of a roster spot.
His WAR currently according to baseball reference is -1.6 on the season which would be the worst all-time for any Blue Jay over a full season.
Usually when players suck this bad they get released or traded for a bag of peanuts long before they accumulate such dismal stats.
I think Rogers and Jays management have already done him a solid running him out there all season even though the tank is clearly empty.
They could've given him the Frank Thomas treatment.
The Jose Bautista story is an amazing one, it was a great run for him and his family is set financially for several generations. Know when to walk away. But I'm guessing he signs with a team like Oakland for another year on a low salary to try and regain his form.
Another all-time favourite, Joe Carter, sucked rhinoceros balls his last season in Toronto as well. He played one more mediocre season before retiring.
Budget cuts, hockey is back, Sportsnet will be using it to track shots on goal.Uhm, who stole the pitchtracker??!!
Not much difference between Jose striking out and Barney grounding out.Who needs Bautista when we have our slugger Barney batting cleanup??!!
My guess it'll be 1 year plus a 1-year club option. I think thats the most he deservesJays and Marco Estrada are close to signing a new contract. Short term 1 or 2 year deal
Reports are saying it's 1 year deal only, no option , $13million.My guess it'll be 1 year plus a 1-year club option. I think thats the most he deserves
