Anyone who keys a car is a piece of shit. But why are Tesla owners especially targeted? I don't get it. There are higher end brands such as BMW and Mercedes, so it can't be about jealousy or resentment.

It comes down to hate and programming. Constant messages telling people to hate them eventually puts words into action. Good thing Tesla’s have century mode and usually catches these people on camera where the police can find the individuals and lay charges. The problem is that people are not aware that this is an issue and can’t understand what made them do that or the inception and origins the seed of that though. They think they own those feelings and actions. Cybertruck fixes this problem.

One interesting hypotheis the video above describes is that the media in general has aired more negative stories about Tesla. These companies tend to be be partners in some way with the legacy car makers such as GM and Ford. This negative publicity may affect how people think about Teslas and their owners.

It’s not just Tesla. My Nissan Rogue has been vandalized 3 times in the last year. People get jealous. Regular car owners get jealous of luxury brands… and people struggling in life get jealous of anybody with anything.

Could be climate change denial that made them did what they did.
They were disturbed by what they saw in Tesla ownership as challenge
to their denial. Or they were jealous climate change believers who had
no choice but to continue driving an ICE vehicle. Problem will be (partially)
solved if we all cut back on driving.

Maybe these people own oil stocks.

IMO it comes down to good old fashioned assholery.
We live in an entitled age where people expect their obstacles to apply to everyone else while simultaneously believing rules don’t apply to them.

there is no good reason to key someone’s car……. Unless they’re parking in a handicap spot they don’t need or if the car owner thinks their car is so special it deserves to take up multiple spots.

So I take it back, there are 2 good reasons.

You believe affluent Tesla and EV owners in general don't
own oil stocks? I suspect a lot of them are owners of
ICE cars as well for out of town commuting

Sooner or later oil stocks particular those that
give a dividend would be a good source of income
to finance your purchase of a Tesla.
