That one is legit, though rare. More of a traditional thing and most likely found outside of Lima.

Peruvian food is surprisingly good though.

Lima has become one of South America's most affluent cities but the rest of Peru is still poor. This in spite of it's treasures in resources, history and landscape. They have to find a way to get the drug merchants out of the Amazon Rainforest, then they could max out on eco-tourism. But it does have a healthier democracy than The Phillipines, they recently rejected the Fujimori clan in national elections. In contrast President Duterte could be setting The Phillipines up for Civil War.

Peru was on the receiving end of Japanese migration from the 20's to the 60's, Japanese food features prominently in Peruvian cuisine.

I wouldn't say it's prominent.

There is "chifa" but I always thought that was Chinese influence.

Also, Lima is a complete dump with about 3-4 nicer neighborhoods. I wouldn't call it affluent at all.

I wouldn't say Lima's a dump... yes it has it's run down area's.. I see that in every city I go to.. There are some beautiful places there Too!!!
I went to some great places in Lima, the water park, restaurant's on the water, some dance clubs I visited, met many great people and I was alone, wandering streets by myself..

The Taste of Manila at Bathurst / Wilson are only in their 2nd year ( or 3rd year ? ). It's going to take a few years to get it developed and to get it right. I was there last year where I saw quite a few sweeties.

Well I did kind of cover that. Larcomar, Miraflores, San Isidro, etc...are nice enough in parts. But, the overwhelming majority of the metropolitan area is a complete dump, and extremely dangerous.

Possibly.

But Fillipinos are super Catholics (except for western Mindanao and the archipelago that connects to Indonesia), Easter is a big feast day. More than likely that cute little dachshund ended up in the stew pot.
LOL, Your post makes as much sense the amount of meat that would be found in a vegetarian stew!
