Thats too bad.

I dont mean to sound insensitive but this was a long time coming for him...tkaes too many chances with these animals.

Ironic though.. hes been up close and personal with some killer animals but ends up dead from a relatively safe one

Crikey.....

This is thee most fu**ed up thing ever....I had a dream about this guy dying just a few days before this happened and I so don't believe in that kind of s**t....I had this dream about some animal killing him and when I awoke I just blew it off...I had not seen nor heard of him (on TV) for at least and year and when I woke up it was...."why the hell did I dream something silly like that?" I must have been thinking of other stressful day to day events and that, somehow weird coindence, just came up.....wierd...

I don´t think his death was predictable. It was a totally freak accident and a 1 in a million (or way more) kind of deal. Only 17 divers worldwide have been killed. Most people who don´t know what the fuck they are doing could swim with stingrays their whole life and not be killed I bet. The reason why he was killed was the situation was so freakish it couldn´t be accounted for unlike what he was doing with the crocs, snakes and spiders.

Did he die from the poison or did he die from having his heart punctured?
Is this a serious question?

It's too bad but at the same time he took some serious known risks over his career. I think there was a quote in the news that said something to the effect of "it's too bad you have to go to these types of extremes to generate interest in wildlife"

Frankcastle, Ray Mears said that...
"He clearly took a lot of risks, and [being on] television encouraged him to do that," says Ray Mears, survival expert and TV presenter. "It's a shame that TV audiences need that to be attracted to wildlife."

Sad but true.

Anyone catch Anderson Cooper 360 tonight?
At 10pm some fill in nutjob asked the STUPIDEST, most obvious questions to John Stainton, Steve Irwin's friend and manager.
One question the guy had the nerve to ask was, was Steve going for the stingray's tail? Because there are rumors going around, saying that, Steve may have done so, and this is what may have caused the incident.
To which John answered, no, that's absolutely ridiculous and I'm even offended you're asking that.
The guy didn't even apologize for asking, and kept drilling him.
Fucking arrogant, idiotic, American. Why am I not surprised?

As a kid, I used to watch those Mutual of Omaha wild kingdom shows, the ones where the old guy would talk while the young guy would jump out of a boat to wrestle an alligator, or out of a helicopter to wrestle an elk, or out of truck to wrestle a wilderbeast etc etc.

I loved those shows, and they did a great deal to foster and encourage my interest in wildlife and conservation.

Of course, in hindsight we know that most of the stuff was staged, it wasn't good for the animals and most everything depicted was very poor practice.

I think it is sad that this man died relatively young and with a family. I think many kids out there have watched his shows and will I am sure have their love of wildlife and wilderness encouraged to grow and strengthen.

But I do hope that people will not copy or emulate his way of handling wild animals

I stopped watching him when he held his newborn infront of the jaws of a large 'Crikey'... I knew some day his adventurism was going to catch up to him... too sad though, I did enjoy him.

Too bad. He's one of the more genuinely good people out there. But at least he'd already found his calling in life - so much more than most of us can say.

I don't get it, what's the big deal?
He was happy as shit, showing off his kid.
He was extremely confident in his dealing with Crocs.
People blew that way out of proportion.
You gotta remember, he's been around Crocs (and wrangling them with his BARE hands) for a good 30+ years of his life.
I looked at it as, the guy is just very confident.
Did anything happen? No.
THE END.

I agree 21pro, I don't see the difference between what he did with his baby and what Wacko Jacko did with dangling his baby over the balcony. Where of course I am sad for him and his family, I feel his approach was entertaining for some but lacked respect for the animals, jmo.

Two things.

1) Jacko covered his kid's head with a towel and probably would have dropped him, unlike Crock Hunter who was fully trained to handle zoo animals.
2) Jacko slept with what he thought were zoo animals, but were in fact little boys. Crock Hunter was with a real foxy, committed wife.

Crock Hunter is dead (really bad), Jacko is on the loose and must be chained in, ass kicked in badly.

I agree...the danger that he put his child in was a percieved danger..he had the situation under control. He was feeding the croc a chicken carcass, not his son. Now wacko Jacko...I say we string him up by the eyelids and kick him in the jewels till he blinks.....

Yeah, because we know for sure that he did it!!!
You guys would be the first to join a lynch mob.

I read somebody say that Steve's tactics weren't respectful to animals? Are you fucking kidding me? Others would've shot the fucking reptiles, while he risked his life to wrestle them into submission to move them to a more suitable habitat. Jesus Christ. Let the guy die in peace.
