I'm sadden and disappointed to learn of a few regular SPs being played by their "BF" for all or part of their earnings.

I don't understand the logic of giving any, never mind all of the money away at all.

What can you say?

I'm thinking of taking a break from the hobby; it saddens me and fills my conscious with guilt knowing who the money is going to.

If the SPs you're seeing have pimps, you're seeing the wrong SPs!

On the contrary, a handful of them are established reputable SPs.

I just don't understand the logic of them giving their money away?

The common reasoning is love, and the money is in savings; in the man's possession.

What do you take from this?

It must make you feel better to think they are giving all their money to their 'boyfriend' but the rest of the world calls them pimps. if you don't like seeing ladies that have pimps you should probably stop. There's plenty of reputable established ladies who don't. Just sayin'.
I think he was trying to stay classy in his OP, that's why he used quotation marks around the word "BF". It's pretty clear he realizes what's actually going on with the ladies in question.

It would be nice to be so idealistic as to only see truly independent SP's, who do this to make a living, support a family etc, and not support a pimp. But in reality, how are we supposed to know? It strikes me that the only people who inform me an SP is pimped, are other SP's who have a vested interest in me not spending my money elsewhere.

I remember years ago there was an SP pimped out by her husband. Sorry, but I don't understand that and never will. Oh yea, and they had 3 kids!

First, let me say that I've been fortunate/privileged enough to not experience the world of exploitative practices by 'pimps', in my own work or that of my friends. So while I would never say that exploitation, abuse and violence does not exist -- I just don't have the experience to speak to that.

I did however, want to chime in on the idea of a 'pimp' under current Canadian law (now before the courts) - specifically the legislation regarding 'living off the avails'. This law is supposed to target 'pimps' but also catches within its nets: agencies, spouses/partners, drivers/bodyguards, booking agents, etc.

Sometimes what may seem to be a clearcut 'pimp' (ie the example above of an SP 'pimped out' by her husband), may actually be a more complicated situation. Let me turn it around. If a man is a sole breadwinner of a family, for example, has a law practice and supports his wife and children with his earnings, are they 'living off the avails' of his earnings as a lawyer? If sex work was considered legitimate work (which it is), and a wife was supporting her family with her earnings as a sex worker, would her stay-at-home husband have to be considered negatively as a 'pimp'?

Again, I'm not saying that exploitation, abuse and violence does not exist. I am trying to complicate the idea of a 'pimp' and the idea that it is always a negative experience/transaction.

And agencies - could they not be understood as 'pimps'? Like many pimps, they do advertising, supply a client base, organize schedules and bookings, and provide a driver if necessary. And they take a very healthy chunk of a sex workers earnings (40%+). This is not necessarily a negative transaction - many sex workers prefer to work with agencies for the work that they do for them. And some sex workers may also prefer to work with someone who may be referred to as a 'pimp', for the same reasons.

Food for thought.

Enjoy your holiday Monday!

I should've also stated that the husband didn't work. He sat on his fat lazy ass and pimped his wife out. She was the bread winner.

Think of this way.. if SP has a BF, then BF has certain entitlement to her pussy, and exclusivity of her pussy. However, she needs to share her pussy to make money so in order to keep her BF happy (about losing the exclusivity to her pussy), she has to pay him a cut.

Maybe you are being ironic, but to state the obvious: No BF/husband/spouse/friend has any 'entitlement' to a woman's body/pussy.

That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

I know of a few ladies that have husbands that know what they do. I don't know if I would say they are being pimped out by their husbands. Oh they have kids too. One of them is a very popular lady on the board here.

I found very few girls that come to work at agencies are " pimped " as in giving all or a majority of their earnings to some guy ( who often doesn't do anything to bring biz ).

You bring up a good point Charley. If spouses and partners can be 'living off the avails", then technically wouldn't young kids or even adult kids over 18 too? I don't think the Canadian prostitution law specifically excludes dependant or even adult children over 18, though I could be wrong on this. You're right in that the law is trying to address the 'pimp' issue, but it could cause some weird conflicts.

Of course not, they're already being pimped out by your agency.
the more reputable agencies, allows the ladies to schedule their times/days as they wish, take a break or leave anytime they want to in return for the agencies services. While a pimp (aka scumbag parasite) controls a person using threats, fear, drug addiction, physical force, etc.

If I hear or feel any agencies that do not treat the ladies right, I don't do biz with them at all.
