Too funny nibs!.....
Linux is more stable than M$ & Mac combined!
You have to get out more and expand your constricted Apple fanboi mind!....
Where do u figure ... Linux is more stable then BSD?
http://www.aalphanet.com/linux-vs-freebsd.htm
Will OSX being the largest BSD deployment .... Linux is great but too unstable at times...... depending on builds...
Now the reason why corporations are not jumping on the band wagon with linux is generally CIO is the TCO and risk with Open Source and products developed by a open community. free is great ... but risk and cost of ownership as well as PD costs play a huge factor. Most corporations buy a solution rather then want to develop one.

Well if your a salesman, of course you will make more money selling Apple than Linux! Apple has a far bigger marketing/sales div than Linux and then M$ is far bigger still than both Mac & Apple.
Apple resellers make little to no mark up... it is why i always stayed on the services side of things ..... RedHat paid for my buddies 3 ex wife's and various homes.

Actually, if you count versions of BSD embedded into other operating systems, Microsoft Windows NT/2000/XP is probably the largest BSD deployment. Microsoft copied the complete BSD networking stack for use in its products.

I think eventually Microsoft wrote their own networking stack. However, I wouldn't be surprised if the telnet and ftp clients in Windows are still BSD derived code.

OSX is actually BSD .. not BSD based ... OSX is a certified Unix.

Sounds like Linux is destined to be a marginal OS then. It's not really going anywhere on the desktop side of things, it's doing very well with the server and networking stuff...not so hot with corporations from what you wrote and it's not coming out with anything much new. Seems like the momentum these days is on the side of Apple. Although MS seems to have a hit on its hands with Win 7.

First off, I am not a salesman and the Linux distro sales were just minor stuff to keep some people happy.
Second, you can keep consoling yourself with that marketing argument but it doesn't wash. Linux as a consumer OS is pretty much done from the looks of it.

LOL!
Linux NEVER was a consumer OS, it's FREE except for a handful of non-free distros....

Well ... This next release of Ubuntu is pretty solid on the desktop .... and fairly user friendly.
Linux is more then marginal... when u need to push the envelope and max at performance or use cutting edge technology it is there... it is one the reasons we use it quite a bit.... look at chrome OS to understand where technology is going .... the OS will not be some important in the future.
The mobile device is changing as well.. the present model of Linux OSX and Windows will die in their present state ... think clouds ....

So all this huffing and pufffing from your cave about it being so great and wonderful and FREE is a total exercise in attention grabbing as you just said that Linux is not a consumer product. So 350 million consumers in NA should be be interested in it because why? Oh ya, ITS FREE!!!!!
