Exactly!iPhone Hacker: I'll Hack to Keep Linux on PS3

What he said!Bean counters would say that Linux is bad business and they are right. They cannot enslave anybody with Linux, but they certainly can with Windows (or any other proprietary OS).
As far as I'm concerned, they can all go fuck themselves. I'm not gonna give them a dime to lock me in their dependency schemes. If it's not Linux, I don't need it.
Sony has a very valid reason (for themselves) to drop Linux off the PS3. There is an exploit that lets you root the PS3 through the hypervisor (that's how it runs Linux). I guess there's no way to patch this and allow for the ability, so they dropped it.Exactly!
Sony gives no valid reason for dropping Linux and it still will be easily used by those who want it. I've used the PS3 Linux distro, it's OK, works fine but IMHO there are better distros out there.
I can't believe Kotaku didn't do their homework. I posted a link above this post that details exactly why Sony dropped Linux support.Another reason why Linux is stagnating in the consumer segment of the market.

This is just the latest example of the way in which digital rights management hurts consumers — at the end of the day, hardware that includes DRM is always silently waiting to protect someone else's interests, at the expense of your own.
That's the BS Sony argument!Let me see if I understand this. Sony makes changes that should make it harder for hacker to do stuff to their system. SHAME!!!!
You are probably correct!I knew the DRM guidelines had changed with respect to certain things, can't remember which ones, but I'm guessing this isn't covered.
Thanks!
Too funny nibs!......... to try this marginal OS.
I'd say Linux and Mac are pretty much tied in terms of stability. Or are you putting MS in there to handicap Linux? =)Too funny nibs!.....
Linux is more stable than M$ & Mac combined!
You have to get out more and expand your constricted Apple fanboi mind!....![]()
First off, I never said anything about stability did I?Linux is more stable than M$ & Mac combined!
You have to get out more and expand your constricted Apple fanboi mind!....
Well if your a salesman, of course you will make more money selling Apple than Linux! Apple has a far bigger marketing/sales div than Linux and then M$ is far bigger still than both Mac & Apple....I have used Ubuntu before and sold various distros in a past position.
