Some masks better than others

They do, otherwise every healthcare worker who look after covid patients would get infected, and in fact, infection from patient to healthcare worker is rare. Even in the absence of n95s.
Non fit tested Kn95 are pretty good. Just make sure the seal on your face is good, with no air leaks.
Even surgical masks will reduce spread in the immediate environment. The are good at droplet filtration and will filter some aerosols. (Tho not 95%). Cloth masks too, just less so.
Masks don’t work. If they did we would not need to lockdown again.

Glad that you and your loved ones had a good outcome with COVID. Unfortunately not everyone is the same, and there is a societal interest in slowing transmission to keep essential work going, and keeping hospitals running. It’s not just a personal risk issue.

FFS. Zero logic in this post here.

By extension, seat belts don’t work, car brakes don’t work, no medicines for any medical condition work, hell, breathing air doesn’t work, because some people die of lack of oxygen. Is that what you are arguing? Read the evidence. Not just the Facebook posts and fringe websites that agree with your world view.

If they work, why can’t we carry one wearing masks and not lockdown?

Brakes and seatbelts works btw. We don’t stop driving. Your logic makes no sense at all

masks are not working so we need more so called solutions. Hence lockdown.

1. They aren’t (like anything else in life) perfect. I can’t believe this has to be explained to people. If you multiply a failure rate x more of the population infected x higher transmissibility factor, you will see more infections that happen despite masks (or any other intervention).
2. a lot of transmission is happening in UNMASKED setting. Private gathering, restaurants, bars, concerts etc. Did you notice that most of the new restrictions were focused on potentially unmasked / close contact situations?

That's because hospitals use N95 masks. Which completely reinforces the point of my thread.

They also throw out their mask, or disinfect it after each shift.
Most regular citizens don't do this

So they don’t work, thanks for the clarification.

Hospitals don’t always use n95 masks, just for high risk patients and procedures, and early in the pandemic, n95 use was much less than now. If your argument is that n95s are best, I agree with you 100%. If it is that anything else is useless, I disagree, based on the accumulated evidence from the pandemic so far, including numerous observational studies and a few properly controlled ones. Findings are pretty consistent. Masks of all types reduce transmission, and other important outcomes, with fitted n95> unfitted n95/kn95> surgical> cloth. With omicron, and it’s increased transmissibility, this hierarchy is probably more relevant.

I don’t think it’s worth continuing this because you can’t tell the difference between <100% efficacy and 0% efficacy.
Oh I do, I just don’t want to sit around locked at home until the scared people create a zero risk community. It’s never going to happen. As you said, nothing is perfect. So let’s get on with it. No lockdowns.

That’s an entirely different question than do masks work, straw man argument.
Masks reduce transmission, public health measures reduce transmission, and there are costs, especially to the latter. If you want to debate the relative cost / benefit of infection vs public health measures, that is a separate question.

So masks can work sometimes, a bit like most people who get Covid will be fine.

I like the mask idea because most of my co-workers have bad breath, its great that i don't have to hold my breath anymore when they are talking to me

Still waiting for these studies that show covid virions travel through the air on their own and not in aerosols.

After going through Covid and seeing my family and friends do the same. I actually question why we are taking any precautions at all that we dont usually do during winter months.

Lets just stop measuring and tracking covid. Then no one will know it’s exists, case solved.
So if ICU capacity fills up and they are now deciding who gets help and who goes home, regardless of COVID or another reason one is in emerg, that is ok with you as long as you can go eat at your favorite restaurant?

There’s no reasoning with someone like yourself stuck in March 2020. I bet you still wear flares. The same old arguments won’t stick.

You are wrong once again but hey, believe what you like, it is your right to be constantly wrong.
