A snowfall warning has been issued for Toronto and the rest of the GTA, ahead of a winter storm that is expected to move into the region overnight.
“Snow is expected to begin early Wednesday morning before becoming heavy Wednesday afternoon,” Environment Canada said in its statement.
“Heavy snow will continue through Wednesday night before tapering to flurries Thursday morning.”
Meteorologist Natasha Ramsahai says to expect delays during both the morning and afternoon commute on Wednesday, with most of the snow falling in the afternoon hours and into the evening.
The GTA could get as much as 15 to 25 centimetres of snow and it is expected to be wet and heavy, says Ramsahai. “This is going to be the hard to shovel kind.”
Those north of the city can expect another dose of winter weather this week, with significant snow squalls expected into Thursday and Friday.
