Turns out people enjoy the classic love story and don't care for it being turned into another generic leftist social justice propaganda film.

There's certainly a lot of piling on going by the anti-woke crowd. The movie doesn't sound all that bad.

Two takeaways:
1) Disney if you're going to resurrect titles out of the archives, don't fuck with them. Play it straight.
2) Hire actors who know the game. You just suck it up and say the franchise's great.

anywhere i want;)
While putting aside all the controversy surrounding this film & its main star Rachel Zeglar ; I decided to go and see it.

Heres my take on it, it is not bad but not great. It was actually a cute movie but nothing beats the original.

They only kept 4 out of the original 8 songs & added a few new ones. There also is no prince , he is a beggar instead.

Also when I went to see it in the theatre , there was only about 6 other people . It was a pretty empty theatre.

Anya Taylor Joy rejected Snow White.

It's a colossal flop grossing $42 million when the film needed $120 million just to break even. Disney has no spine, they went into a diarrhea tornado after Peter Dinklage trashed the production. Granted Rachel Zegler having an echo from the neck up didn't help.

...now if only she could laugh/snort like Caitlin Clark

Yeah.

There's a lot of gloating but it really seems like it is just a mediocre movie.

Of course it was a mediocre movie. They changed the classic winning story line 'cause it needed a woke update. You can't separate the two facts from one another.

You're presuming that there was a market for a live-action remake. I'm guessing that like a lot of Disney franchises it was tired. Disney keeps trying to milk dry cows.

Were I a movie producer/director a movie I made about gay
romance would contain only female nudity. Any depiction of
gay sex would be implicit and subtle.

Going woke is fine but promotion of wokeism must
be secondary to production value of the movie.

Aside from reviews saying its a really shitty movie, it was also boycotted because of this.
Get the fuck out of here on that narrative... the movie flopped not because of her... Rachel Zeigler gave a spoiler during her interview it's going to be a strong woman / leader storyline...basically a different movie where the main character is wearing a snow white costume...not everything is about Palestine and Israel Franky.

This inevitably happens with any long-running franchise. James Bond has triggered all kinds of people for updating the Bond character but it would be literally impossible for Bond to continue his misogynist ways from the early 60’s so something had to change for the series to continue.

Same thing for Star Wars and StarTrek- the fandom for those franchises don’t tend to like any of their characters changed or re-interpreted; in fact, they completely flip shit over it. But it doesn’t matter…nothing ever stays the same no matter how hard we try to hold onto it.

The Lion King released last year did just fine.
Well, the original Snow White was released in 1937.

The Lion King released in 1994. It moved to Broadway in 1997 and set records. Then it crossed back over to movies. The Lion King is still on Broadway.

Some franchises have incredible legs across various mediums. Others do not.
