Should We Have The Death Penalty For Child Killers?

What a terrible crime that has happened to poor little Holly Jones. Should we have the death penalty for the person(s) responsible for this crime?

After a bit of a struggle... cause I really did not want to read about this... I did read all the articles in The Sun today about Holly Jones. Mel Lastman commented that he wished they had the death penalty for these types of crimes. As I was pacing the parking lot out back of my office during a smoke break I was thinking about this. Both angry and sad... a flurry of thoughts and emotions were running through me. I concluded that no we should not have the death penalty. Death is to good for these bastards. They should be locked up for LIFE in the general popultion in the toughest meanist jail we have. Why do we give these SOBs PC? But no... because we have no tough jails in this country anymore. Knowing our so called justice system they'll send these f**kin guys to Club Med. BASTARDS! They should be made to suffer LARGE everyday for the rest of their lives like the parents and family of poor little Holly. And when I say life I mean LIFE... NO PAROLE EVER! HELLO... any of you government or parole board types reading this... take a f**kin hint already. We do not want these people to go free EVER. There is no rehab for these SOBs. Lock them up and throw the key away.

Man where does one start on this one. Gut feeling is with Original BATMAN, make the bugger suffer! The Spanish Inquisition had the means to deal with people like this. When you sit down and realize that the emotion driving your thoughts are clearly that of revenge you have to step back a little.

To take the life of another human being, especially one as defenseless as a child is predatory in nature. To further compound that by desecrating a body is beyond my comprehension. This is not a human being we are dealing with. The "thing" has so much rage in him that it’s spilling out in the most disgusting way. I have a niece that is 7 yrs. of age and I could not imagine what my life would be like without her. It would crush me, but that would pale in comparison to what the mother of Holly must be feeling.

Death of any human being in this manner is abhorrent. But there is something especially harsh about a child dying in this manner. This child had the opportunity of life taken away from her by someone wanting to exercise his perverted sense of power. People like this cannot be helped or rehabilitated for that matter. Jail time for someone like this means just that. Time in jail. No perks no rights no privileges. Those elements are guaranteed for people in a civilized society not for animals. Jails are meant to punish people first then rehabilitate the ones that can be. The Federal government spends over $200,000.00 dollars a year to clothe, feed and protect Paul Bernardo in prison. Karla Homulka spent 7 years in prison and got a university education for her deed. How many people do you know couldn’t get into university because they couldn’t afford it?

Punishment must fit the crime! Hard time in prison in GENERAL POPULATION. There is a pecking order in prison and that in the end is the law of the jungle. Since these people choose be have like animals let them live in an environment fit for them.

I've alway's hoped to hear Paul Bernardo was killed in jail - whomever get's him would be my hero. But alas, they put these guys in solitary to keep the rest of the prisoners from killing them. From what I understand anyone in jail who has messed with a kid is dead in general population. Which, strange as it sounds, makes me proud of some of those prisoners that they know what justice is, and will finish the job for us.

This is an interesting post. The fact that we do not support capital punishment is one of the many things that Canadians I speak to are proud of... that we are compassionate people unlike "barbaric" Americans and sets us apart from America.

I personally voted "undecided". I always felt that punishment should be tough - otherwise how are you going to deter people from commiting horrible crimes? But the death penalty is something I've always went back and forth on. Personally I think life with no chance of parole in a tough prison camp (like those rough ones in Alabama where they live in tents surrounded by barbwire and guards w/machine guns doing hard labor 10 hours a day that have liberals crying human rights violations) is better punishment. Death is an easy way out.

Well, life in jail does that anyway, but my point is that pre-crime, the death penalty does not deter sex criminals and pedophiles.

It's an open debate as to whether it deters child killers.

I see the problem with the death penalty as being time to exictution

if you know you can delay the exicution for decades why fear it???

Also there are few automatic death penalty crimes....So unless the DA has a GRAND SLAM they seldom go after it

Problem is, we don't have any tough prison camps here. I would suggest that the Don Jail is too good for this twisted animal, but our prisoners are seeing their time in the Don cut back because it's too imhumane.

Sometimes I think they had it right in the old west where a tall oak tree and a strong rope would rid the world of varmints like these...
