Should we halt Immigration until we can get it under control.

1) if the gta, which has more housing, more services, more infrastructure can’t handle the influx than everyone else…And quite obviously it can’t…What makes anyone think anyone else can…..and if we hope to spread them out. What’s it going to take to accomplish that? $$$$$$$$$$$ and lots of it?

2) You do, many do. Read the post before…

3) Of coarse it matters. Quite a bit. Because if we don’t…how can we know ( for lack of better words) what’s going to help…work…Do we have endless supplies of money and 20 more years of people flocking to the area?

4) Do you see birth rates increasing? Women are having children later and later in life. “Busy lives, careers”…then there’s the cost of having 3-4 kids…and kind of like placing people in “Sudbury”……or Kingston Ont, or Regina….why would they stay, if there’s few jobs, little infrastructure/services…Do we start chaining them?

5) Yes cities are important. The GTA too. But we are where we are. Because for too many years, politicians who need the seats, have catered to the whims, wants, whines and needs of just a few. While ignoring ( or killing) so much else. Let’s call that vote buying…..while the voters in those areas………stick their heads in the sand…I can point to central and Sw Ontario 2003-2010…I can point to Alberta today..

For illustration I can point to Hydro rates here….people outside the gta were howling by 2007……..it wasn’t until years later people in the 416/905 started howling…and then 2014 when the 416/905 had finally had enough and the liberals were in danger of losing….before Wynne even admitted it was a mess…( has that been fixed yet)……..

Carbon taxes….????????????

despite having no money, and needing to raise revenue (taxes let call that) the 905 crying about tolls on the 412/418 and Ford caving. I can point to sooooooooooo job losses elsewhere but when GM in the 905 threatened to close……And much more…so the point there. In the end, is it not on voters to think about what’s best? Look towards Alberta…

And First past the post is badly broken….
Honestly, take at least 2 breaths before and while you write. I think you have some good points in there somewhere, but it's so jumbled that I can't even begin to decode it.

“honestly”
Ask me if I care what you think. You’re not that important a person. Aren’t you full of yourself….

And it’s really not hard.

Ignoring this guy is the best solution to that.....
Maybe, but I try not to use ignore.

Today riding across town I really noticed the foodbank lines were longer and there were way more people in tents in a few parks.
I'm sure that's not interest rates hitting home owners, that's people who can't find/afford rentals or jobs that pay enough to afford rent.
It really does need to be fixed before it gets worse but I still can't think of better solutions than just taxing the rich, putting back rent control, more subsidized housing, more social services and raising minimum wage.

There are some topics, people would generally be wise to avoid. Politics and race being two. Because I am “obviously” being spoken about by people that wouldn’t have the stones to do it in front of me..Just had to see what was being said…

Any of you mental geniuses considered there’s possibility of a thing like dyslexia?

Will say, the concepts are pretty straight forward. Children can get them. But I am quite obviously dealing with kids stuck in high school.

With respect to the “GTA”?

Federally

You guys seriously need to get outside your bubble. Spend some time outside the GTA, travel the country. Hear what is being said about you.

I have friends with Dyslexia, so no. You write the first few words of a thought, then its like you think the rest of them in your head, along with another great sentence and then add a word or two to, thinking you wrote it all down. That I notice because I often do the same thing on a small level and will miss typing a word because my mind is faster than my fingers. So more likely you're just a two fingered typist or have meaty thumbs not built for speed.

By the way, its pretty easy to avoid politics on terb, just stay out of the politics forum.

Halt immigration until Doug Ford gets those 1.5 million new market-priced housing units at $1.5 million - $5 million per unit built.

After all this, you pull the dyslexia card?! Have you considered there's the possibility of a thing called "treatment" especially if you're still working? Maybe it would help others understand you better and not get into fights. Or write shorter sentences? Or take a breather before click the Reply button? Those are my genuine suggestions and also not personal attacks. I don't care if you want to deal with it, but don't be shocked that you get so many personal attacks.

You should take your own advice and get outside your bubble. Spend some time inside the GTA and other cities. Spending time talking with other people face-to-face would help.

You already said that you don't care what I think. Why would I care what people outside the GTA are saying about me?

If we wait long enough, the baby boomers, generation x, y and z will die. That will open up lots of supply.

Well when I have to. I don’t take shit from anyone. Especially online, and when dealing with “kids” stuck in high school. If you don’t like the response. Deal with it. You chose…

It is more prudent to halt population growth
than immigration altogether. Can't we just limit
the volume of immigration to a level sufficient
to avert further aging of the population?

Sure. What number is that? Any chance that's what the government is using to set their targets?

Good reads.

Ontario’s share of the Canadian population also rose, from 35.7 per cent in 1971 to 38.8 per cent in 2019.

Provincial population growth has accelerated in recent years, starting in the summer of 2016.

In 2018–19 alone, Ontario’s population increased by 248,000 (1.7 per cent). This is much faster than the average annual growth of 121,000 (0.9 per cent) observed in the preceding decade (2006 to 2016).

I wonder why……

The population of the province grew faster due to increased immigration, a rapidly growing number of non-permanent residents including international students, and positive interprovincial migration.

follow the $$$

More people in Ontario means more seats in the House of Commons, unless Trudeau the Younger change the rules to allow more seats in Quebec.

Well, its very likely that the oil&gas industry's plan to halt population growth through climate change collapse will come to fruition, maybe you should just focus on that.
