Should the US goverment involve itself in Liberia?

Well, that is true - my problem is that our government seems to have a problem cutting the myriad of social programs form the budget.

The problem with our politics is that I think that even our "right-wing" conservatives are still left of your Democrats. I might be wrong with that assessment, but it is close.

There are a lot of people in our country who do in fact have their hand out first, but really don't want to actually pull their own.

I myself make a comfortable 6-figure income, and work fairly hard for it - I hate to think that my tax dollars go towards some guy who tries to tell me that it is his right to collect welfare, and that for him to have to work in order to earn it would be hurting his pride...is that not twisted????

The one thing about Clinton that I loved was the "3 strike" concept on crime - that is a great idea in my books.

I also believe, and support Capital punishment.

And as for Liberia...it would be nice to see Canada get involved with the US in this, but what will likely happen will be that our helicopter(s) won't make it off the tarmac.

Was I the only Canadian embarassed by that?

Just to ad HH, the last time we sent peace keepers to Africa we ended up allowing white supremists beat up on a 15 yr old boy.

You have to have very little or too much money to think socialism is a good idea. Nothing like a tough job and a big mortgage to righten your thinking on these issues.
