An impeachment that was nothing more than right wing kooks gone wild. And Bush's actions as President are making the impeachment look dumber by the day.

Actually the impeachment was a result of his perjuring himself while under oath.

Not right wing anything. Was his penis and mouth that brought it on.

The capture of Saddam doesn't matter worth a damn. The Sunnis will continue to fight the American occupation of their country and the U.S. will remain immersed in a quagmire.

The bottom line is that the U.S. administration has pissed away hundreds of billions of dollars to do what didn't need to be done in a pestilence stricken rathole where Americans don't belong. All the U.S. has managed to accomplish is to ensure the enmity of Arabs for generations to come.

Getting head in the oval office from an intern and then lying about it, is a mistake. Selling chemical weapons to Saddam is criminal.
I mean ya, US may have give weapons and of course they were completely stupid to think that they would not be used against him, <clip>
Do you honestly believe that it was just a case of stupidity? I don't think so. Most 4-year olds aren't that stupid.
, but Bush was not a round at that time and he just went in and cleaned up the mess that the previous political powers had done.
Not quite. When do you think his father will be standing trial for crimes against humanity?

The atrocity, which shocked the world, took place in March 1988, but a month later the components and materials of weapons of mass destruction were continuing to arrive in Baghdad from the US."

And Bush swore to uphold the constitution of the United States. He's failing miserably, and doing so on purpose, near as i can tell.

Like Bush or not. He is the elected President of the USA. As such he is the Commander and Chief.

Exercise the right to vote and change it if enough people agree with you.

Well... seven pages so far... thank God that I have Picky on "ignore" or it could well be 10 with all his anti-American rhetoric. He must have a busy night of cutting and pasting ahead of him! :D

In the interest of keeping this short, it does not solve Bush's problem in Iraq. He still has an occupational nightmare on his hands, the result of his insistance to go it alone without UN support. Australia and Cameroon can only offer so much help.

He also has the new nightmare of the rebuilding contracts. While I support his decision to ban those who would not do the dirty work and send troops to support the operation, he isnt going to mend any fences with our Allies by tweaking their nose one more time.

On the upside, I'm glad that Saddam is out of circulation. But who's to say that a "new and improved" dictator will not emerge? It will also help Bush in the short term as he will get credit for the capture and any resulting information. By the time the election rolls around in a year though, it will be long forgotten unless there is an end to the fighting, and Iraq is well on the way to self government.

And no Picky, I havent seen CNN since the story broke, I just got back from a weekend in Toronto.

The ignore function isn't working. Seems like you've only traded in the 'real Picky' for an imaginary one. The dialogue goes on! :)

hmmmmmmmm.. as the self described Redneck on this boards.

I can safely say that no "Redneck" or other Conservative would watch CNN. I believe that FoxNews would be the network of choice.

Now I will also so say that all this Rhetoric has done nothing about how I feel about the events.

The truth is how I feel about the events is my business........
and of course I do vote.

This is undocumented HORSESHIT from a third rate newsource printed on a politically biased website. I have a visceral hate for George Bush, yet I will not let that override my quest for the TRUTH. Would you care to provide some links to the so called Senate Report so that people interested in the truth can read for themselves. We have reference to some "secret reports" and nobody of any authority cited as a source of this material. The Senate reports are in the public domain. The fact is they refer to "dual use" technology. Furthermore, without any access to those reports, one must take for granted that the authors with their obvious agenda, are credible as interpretors of the information contained in that report.

You are proof again that SARS is still loose in Canada. That would be Systemic Anal Retentive Stupidity.

Great that he's out of circulation, but I'm sure there's many in the US Administration who are upset that he was taken alive. I'll bet some heads will roll. Still alive what the hell do they do with him. They have to be extremely cautious now of world opinion, something that they have not been very good at up until now, and making a martyr out of him in the middle-east. Can't see them executing him, and as long as he's alive he'll be a source of inspiration for fanatical followers.
What are they gonna do - lock him up with Noriega and Milosivic? With extra bunks ready for Kim Jong Il and Osama?

What a potential hornet's nest. Would be a shame if he was shot trying to escape?
rest him up, treat what ails him and then hang the bastard. If they have any sense at all they'll do in in the square where we tore the statue down.

Perhaps a BBQ afterwards?

First of all I would like to congratulate all of the coalition troops in Iraq for their splendid performance in caputuring Saddam Hussein. I am indeed happy for the Iraqi people and sincerely hope that this development will speed the process of healing and recovery for the country. I would also ask my government to get back to the business of capturing people who have killed innocent American citizens. The action in Iraq has not and will not make the USA any safer from foreign terrorism. As we speak, the UN is speaking of the possible need to withdraw from Afghanistan due to security concerns. I presume our Canadian friends are incapable of managing the job.

Unlike a lot of the the anal retentive conspiracy theorist on this thread who will spare no opportunity to express their disdain of the imperialist USA, I was not surprised that Saddam would be offerred the opportunity to surrender without being harmed. ANY of our forces regularly offer that opportunity to anyone, regardless to their value as a target. Throughout history, US POWs have been regularly treated with gross disregard to the Geneva Convention yet still none of you sickening so called human rights activists seem to NEVER give a shit. Let me get this off my chest now to tell you that I hold your opinions with the same regard as that I have for whale shit, and that would be one notch above the opinions of the Bush/PNAC cabal. Guantanamo Bay is the Hilton in comparison to prisons in Afghanistan, yet you don't see any of the international press doing any reporting on the conditions in those prisons. I vote to move the Guantanamo Bay prisoners back to prisons under control of the Northern Alliance, particularly those of little information value. That way we can save the cost of disposal. Ever been to a Turkish prison? Some of you people are just so full of s**t, you don't even deserve being taken serious.

You know Smerf, after reading some of the things you post, I think it should be illegal for some people to vote, let alone discuss politics.

Actually I don't recall that any prisoners were taken at Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

While I generally think you're a stuffed shirt, I agree to a certain extent with some of your other comments. But since you seem to be looking for a fight, I'm sure that Picky will oblige.

You know we really do need a "tongue" smilie on this board....

Well said.

I couldn't believe how fast they were on the left-leaning forums to bash Bush and the capture.

"how could they test for DNA so fast?"

"bush had him for weeks now, he just chose a sunday to release this information because its a slow newsday."

"saddam means nothing, who cares."

"bush is still a nazi."

etc, etc.

Cheers,

we ?

Thanks for the reminder of what I never want to be, OTB. I don't mean that how it may sound. Sometimes it just takes a reminder to bring me firmly back to earth.

I'm really trying to bite my tongue, but this thread really puzzles me. I can totally understand that we all have different views and to me that's a good thing, but the rallying for Bush is absurd to me, when so many human lives have been lost in this whole ordeal. Months later and after much bloodshed on both sides they finally capture Saddam hiding in a hole in the ground. I can understand the relief and "hope" that it will tame things down, even though I doubt it. What I do not understand is the enthusiasm some people are showing over this. It's almost as if his capture symbolises some kind of closure and makes up for all the botch ups. Someone stated, "it's the 'best' news". I could think of a hell of a lot better news, such as maybe, the region is stabilised. That would be positive news, but even then it wouldn't take away from all the loss of life and resulting human tragedy. I just feel that some people don't really care to think about the broader picture and place too much on this capture.

Essentially it's all the gratuitous misplaced fervour ( he's a coward, burn the crazy fuck, wave a flag or whatever ) that bemuses me. If it's your view that he should be killed for the atrocities he committed, that's fine, and I'm not saying he shouldn't, but I'd understand more if it were a logical decision and expressed without such zeal to take a life. If people valued human life more to begin with, we wouldn't even be sitting here spewing forth our opinions as if we as individuals have all the answers ( at least not on this topic )

blah blah blah
