rest him up, treat what ails him and then hang the bastard. If they have any sense at all they'll do in in the square where we tore the statue down.
Perhaps a BBQ afterwards?

we ?
Thanks for the reminder of what I never want to be, OTB. I don't mean that how it may sound. Sometimes it just takes a reminder to bring me firmly back to earth.
I'm really trying to bite my tongue, but this thread really puzzles me. I can totally understand that we all have different views and to me that's a good thing, but the rallying for Bush is absurd to me, when so many human lives have been lost in this whole ordeal. Months later and after much bloodshed on both sides they finally capture Saddam hiding in a hole in the ground. I can understand the relief and "hope" that it will tame things down, even though I doubt it. What I do not understand is the
enthusiasm some people are showing over this. It's almost as if his capture symbolises some kind of closure and makes up for all the botch ups. Someone stated, "it's the 'best' news". I could think of a hell of a lot better news, such as maybe, the region is stabilised. That would be
positive news, but even then it wouldn't take away from all the loss of life and resulting human tragedy. I just feel that some people don't really care to think about the broader picture and place too much on this capture.
Essentially it's all the gratuitous misplaced fervour ( he's a coward, burn the crazy fuck, wave a flag or whatever ) that bemuses me. If it's your view that he should be killed for the atrocities he committed, that's fine, and I'm not saying he shouldn't, but I'd understand more if it were a logical decision and expressed without such zeal to take a life. If people valued human life more to begin with, we wouldn't even be sitting here spewing forth our opinions as if we as individuals have all the answers ( at least not on this topic )
blah blah blah
