Tampa is the best team. Toronto is garbage.
Tampa is best. They swept the the top ranked team in Florida but Toronto took them to the brink and Toronto is garbage. Great logic.

Leafs were the second-best team in the east during the playoffs. Just that stupid playoff format that pinned the 2 best teams in the first round.

It is so odd how that keeps happening to us, year after year after year...

When we used to lose to Boston we were always the second best team in the league, just that dumb playoff format had the two best teams meeting in the first round. Everyone said so. Or at least the Toronto Star said so.

Then we lost to the Columbus Blue Jackets, but we were DEFINITELY one of the top two teams that year. Just that dumb qualifying round got in the way.

Then we lost to Montreal last year and a frequent poster here pointed out that really, we were the second best team in the league we just had the bad luck of meeting Montreal in the first round.

Now we lost to the Lightning but we're one of the top two teams again, just the dumb playoff format had the two best teams meeting in the first round... again.

We are clearly #1 in this race though! Let's pound our chests a bit here.
The survey was taken last January so it might be outdated for Oilers fans:

A survey was conducted by asking the fans, take it with a grain of salt. Toronto Maple Leafs are the most hated team in the NHL that's what the survey says. Tampa commended the Leafs saying it was the toughest series they have played in the past 3 playoffs. Tampa coaching and management said they should run it back with the same core.

Nobody hates the team, the Leafs are like any other team in the league.
It's the Toronto fan base that people make fun of.
If you use twitter you'll know why.

Yup. No conflict of interest there. Why would they lie? 😄

Like I said, "take it with a grain of salt" (your opinion that is, it's just Leaf bashing).

The Calgary Fames should not re-sign Matthew Tkachuk. He's useless in the playoffs. In 27 career playoff games he has 15 points (barely half a point a game) and he's -11.

He's ok to watch during the regular season but it's clear that his level of play drops off in the playoffs, and that's what it's all about, isn't it. Calgary was no worse than the 2nd best team in the west but they got beat by a 2-man team whose goalie lets in shots from 130 feet. They should have won in 4 straight.

It's obvious that he doesn't have what it takes to perform in the playoffs and he does not have what it takes to lead a team in the playoffs.

Leafs fans still crying about the playoffs format lol
I felt that the winner of Leafs-Bolts would go deep and that neither team deserved to be gone so soon, so,yes, I guess I'm complaining about the format.
However, the fact that of 8 opening round series, 5 went the full 7 games and 2 others went 6, I can see the argument that the format is a good one.
btw, not a Leafs fan, nor a hater, I think I'm objective.

The least respected poster in the sports forum is you.

You post the same thing over and over and over. You never have an original thought. You contribute nothing to the forum and are a joke.

Tkachuk has crap numbers in the playoffs and the Flames underperform with him on the team. Those are facts. If he was on the Leafs you'd be calling him a bum. And even if the Leafs made it to the finals and lost you'd be harping on 1967. So the fact that the Flames have won a couple series here and there is a non-factor. If a team doesn't win the Cup they are losers. That's the same standard that the Leafs are held to, so it applies to the Tkachuk Flames as well.

I'm no fan of Tkachuk or the Flames; but enough shit posting.... that would require an essay.

I disagree with your statement above, though. Only one team wins the cup each year - that's too high a standard.

It's an amazing accomplishment just to make it to the conference finals - reports from the MLSE board were that they were "feeling pressure to win a first round playoff series" this season. As it turned out, they were reported to be feeling okay with what they got.

Winning the Cup would be a huge jump for the Leafs. The fan base only wants to see some success and excitement.

Ottawa, Winnipeg and Montreal have all made the final four within the last 5 years. No one called them 'losers' when their playoff runs petered out; they were thrilling.

I'm just trying to use the same standards that Leafs critics use.
