in no way am i siding with the players here, they do have to exercise some restraint in regards to the fans, but....
what the hell are the fans thinking about? throwing beer and pop on guys, and not expecting reprecussions? sorry, but i would have done the same thing, i would have gone straight for the guy who did it and pummel him! incredible, i think the palace security force needs to be reviewed, because frankly, there was no security down there to help out, or even prevent it in the first place. very interesting to see what the NBA does now. the fans who did it, should be banned from the arena for life, and if they were season ticket holders, buh-bye! no money back either for this year.
as for the players, ron artest is a jerk, period. he did try to stay away from ben wallace, during the original incident, but, when he laid across the siderails, and put the espn headset on, that was cocky. he then proceeds to talk trash with the fans, probably enticing the fan, who was drunk to begin with, to throw stuff at him. what stephan jackson was doing, charging at the one fan, was wrong. he was not involved at all, he should never have been there. ben wallace is the guy who will punished the hardest. he started the whole thing to begin with. sure artest fouled him, but it wasnt that bad. his reaction was way over the top. i hope the league comes down hard on him.
another black eye for a league with an image problem. way too many attitudes and egos in this league. david stern, you had better get a better grip on your players. if it is not holdouts, they demand trades, want time off to record rap cd's, rape cases, drug cases, and now this. sure doesn't help sponsors make their minds up about supporting the league.
