The Alberta Premier Kenney welcomes it. Hopefully, the Federal Government should not approve of it, as there is a probability of higher prices. Unless they open the market to other providers. Canadians pay some of the highest prices for cellular / internet services:

the Liberals will approve it I' bet rogers gives them tons of money

the CRTC prevents foreign companies from operating here unless Canadians own most of it thus were stuck with two companies that set the prices to whatever they want, our prices will only go up

Probably the Jason Kenny Provincial Conservative Government must be getting all those tons of money. Kenny has praised it already!!

considering its a FEDERAL decision your WAY WAY off base.....
Prove that the Federal Party got paid, unless you are saying that whatever occurred under the Harper regime ended up in bribes. We know that it happened to the Mulroney with his Airbus bribes!!

But surprising that Kenney is welcoming this merger, as the costs are bound to be jacked up when there is a monopoly. We will see if the merger is sanctioned!!

If it were Harper, Scheer or O Toole they would approve it too. The only party that I could see not approving it is the NDP.

Nawww, below is exactly what you stated:

the Liberals will approve it I' bet rogers gives them tons of money

the CRTC prevents foreign companies from operating here unless Canadians own most of it thus were stuck with two companies that set the prices to whatever they want, our prices will only go up
So prove that The Liberals will get "tons of money" from Rogers??

Not really; Rogers has promised close to a Billion being spent in AB as well as hiring thousands of new employees in AB
So yeah AB has quite the vested interest in the merger

province has no say in a federal decision especially since the Liberals don't care what ab has to say

Well one thing for sure....there will be a lot of lost jobs across western Canada. Don’t believe anything Rogers says. The CEO was asked if there will be layoffs and he avoided the question.

Yeah, Rogers promised they will hold off raising prices for Freedome Mobile customers for 3 years. I bet that was written on the fly on a napkin, to be tossed away as soon as the deal is signed and sealed. I am on a legacy Freedom Mobile plan as one of the early subscribers at $29 per month unlimited 5GB data (then 128 kbs thereafter) so this deal will affect me if it goes through.

I also have a Roger's mobile plan so I will get screwed on both sides.

Nobody has talked about a further cost, and benefit - 5G. It will take a huge company partnered with government to get a network up and running for cars. The cost of connecting a vehicle to that grid may be considerable. All the money saving in fuel costs will probably go to tolls for connecting to the traffic net. By the mile would be my guess...

Nice deal for Shaw shareholders. Rogers offer is substantial premium to then current market. Shaw shares up over 40%.yesterday.

I can see the Competition Bureau force them to divest Freedom Mobile as part of the deal. I don't blame Rogers for the deal, they can rival Bell when it comes to revenue.

But, yeah, we're going to get screwed by this eventually. That whole spectrum auction a few years back to allow new entrants into the mobile market seems like a colossal waste of time now. Most of those companies have been scooped up by the big three...

Of course there will be
The redundancy of having 2 separate groups or employees; DURING a plandemic where Rogers (& Shaw) combined to lose BILLIONS?

It is absurd to think otherwise
