Seattle will grow to regret that deal. It's almost as bad as the A-Rod fiasco.

Maybe, but I find with most sports teams if they win the championship(s) the team can live with the fallout afterwords.

J P Arencebia signs with Texas for about $1,000.000. according to the CBC.
That is a far cry from what he thought he would get from Toronto.

Every other league have lockouts in order to fix things like this ie long contracts but baseball thinks they are smarter then anyone else and keeps giving 10 year contacts to 30plus year olds .

Baseball has had its' share of strikes.

Are you saying that A) you are hoping for another one and B) it will make the game better as it has for other sports? (Hockey can only give 8 years.)

Cano has his ring - he went for the money. But of course Seattle will regret this when he's 35/36 on the decline...

Big question is...is McCann/Ellsbury/Beltran > Cano/Granderson? Collectively probably yes.

the .194 is awful but the strikeouts worse. his defense....I know what defense? Had the Jays made him a qualifying offer it would have been a lot higher than what the Rangers gave him because of the dingers.
I hope he does well in Texas. Seems like a nice enough guy just didn't perform here.

All depends if these 3 stay healthy. McCann has a bum shoulder, Ellsbury is injury prone period and Beltran has bum
knees.

You mean offered arbitration right ? not qualifying offer of 14MIL +

actually I wasn't sure what the qualifying offer would have been. I just knew it was a lot more than he was worth. Even in arbitration the award would have been more than he signed for with the Rangers. Probably a good gamble by the Rangers. If he takes this as a wake up call and goes to school with their coaching staff he may pan out. Don't wish him any ill will, he just wasn't getting it done here.
