He still is a patient, regardless of his VIP status. Without full details and only reporting on the undignified aspects of his treatment from someone being paid or hoping to get their 15 minutes of fame, they are reporting a skewed view. Not balanced reporting. Sorry.

The media cannot report why you visited your doctors office by questioning the office receptionist. The media has to walk a very fine line, and in this case that is usually done with anecdotal stories from other patients that were in group therapy.
No arguing he is a clown (Ford not Fuji) and he is getting what he deserves - from the heckling to the media scrutiny.
What you are seeing here is typical of political threads (hint to moderators… time to move it over) where someone makes a statement and others take issue with how it was said.

It's a discussion about certain principles instead of one defending him. Just because he's a repulsive clown doesn't mean that whatever people do or how they treat him is necessarily all right.

Still there are privacy laws that restrict you from asking about medical treatments and conditions. Can you imagine the outrage if you were asked on a job application if you have ever had a STD?

Within reasonable limits of course. I'd bet Ford has a little dick and I love it if the media would tell me if that is true. I'd bet lots of people would find that interesting. But that doesn't make it ok for the media to dig for it by bugging his urologist.
There may be laws against an EMPLOYER asking that kind of personal information, but the press is a different story.

The bullying and drunken outbursts by this moron was well documented long before the election. The only new thing was the crack video.
The test is genuine public interest and there is a lot of case law including several SCC decisions as to what constitutes a genuine interest.
Mere public fascination is not enough, there has to be a valid public controversy which the facts shed light on and several other factors.
Whether or not Ford is fit to be mayor does depend on whether his rehabilitation has worked and so the Star would have no problem defending against any claim of defamation or violation of privacy brought by Ford.
