Unreality...man you guys have swallowed Vince's Kool-Aid! BTW...wrestling is fake...it is scripted. Watch olympic level wrestling not the stuff designed for Appalachian inbreeds.
Wrestling is fake and scripted? Holy shit man. Thanks for the news. I never knew.

I guess us inbreeds (sp), can start using fake words like "unreality" and come off as real smart as well.

Why do people keep with the wrestling is fake stuff..... of course we know that. Do you feel the need to remind people that movies are fake as well?

It's entertainment and if you don't enjoy it then don't post. Baseball bores me to tears as does soccer but I don't feel the need to post about my feelings on those forms of entertainment either.

Bitter divorce and lots of drugs is a recipe for disaster but I still feel bad for Chris and his family.

It's a sad loss to the Wrestling world.Chris Benoit,a Canadian, trained in the infamous Stu Hart's Dungeon in Calgary and wrestled all over the world.

To tell you the truth I didn't think he was great. He was very good, but not great. It took him what some 20+ years to get a world title shot.No he did temporary won it from Sid in WCW and left next night for the WWE.
Later he did win World title at Wrestlemania and successfully defended it against HBK and HHH 2x.Inbetween the Heavyweight titles,he won tag,inter-,US,Euro=but they were all silver prizes.
Plus defected to Raw with the 4 renegades,Smackdown, back to Raw after inning the Rumble, back to draft SmackDown, and worse recent draft ECW.
Plus at least 2 neck surgeries and countless injuries during his tenure in Wrestling.Yet,he still does the diving head-butt as the finisher or a warm-up to the crippler cross face.

Why he snapped?Could it be lack of story lines and on air time, being drafted to a smaller unpopular brand ECW?No title shots, besides the recent one.

Benoit was petite wrestler.a toothless aggression(missing canine)non charisma to promos, but sure can entertain the crowd with his germans suplexes. He's Canadian and that makes him a winner in my books.

No offense, but I do find this kind of talk humourous. The results were scripted! It took him 20+ years to get a title shot because the writers didn't think that story line would work during those first 20 years.

He didn't successfully defend a title, the writers did.

To Honor a murderer is ridicoulous!! He murdered his wife , and 7 year old son!
Instead of honouring him , mourn his family that he killed. Its publicity like this that keeps other morons thinking its kewl to do some weird shit , and they they too will be a martar!
What is this worls coming too?

Is that all it takes to be a winner in your books? Paul Bernardo is Canadian too you know. Is he on your list of winners?

I can't believe something like this could happen. From all of the newspaper reports, it seems like he was a really family guy. Reports also did say he was acting really odd before he left to se his family. But something this tragic to me is unthinkable. I am still shocked of this whole event, and it seems there are throwing out more information about the whole event. man, you never know what might happen in life...

Out of curiosity, why can't you believe this could happen? In the philisophical sense of shock that someone would murder their own spouse and child, I accept your surprise. But it irks me that so many (not you specifically, kickitoldschool, but generally speaking) seem to be surprised because they're assuming Benoit's wrestling character is the true Chris Benoit. If he were playing the role of a wife beating heel, would people then just assume this should've been expected?
I'm baffled as to the number of calls to radio shows and comments on the net from people who apparently struggle to make the distinction between the man and his wrestling persona.
He seemed to be a "real family guy" but his wife had once sought a restraining order against him.
No one seems surprised by the guy in T.O. who committed a murder/suicide this past weekend because no one knows him. No one knows Benoit either, but they think they do because he was a "good guy" on the wrestling circuit.

I don't think it has to do with his wrestling character. Hell, he was a heel a ton of times.
It's the fact that according to any wrestlers who worked with him, any wrestling journalists and commentators and anyone who interacted with him, he seemed to be a good, easy-going kind of guy. Obviously, we never knew him personally or knew everything about him. But from what we did know, he seemed to be a sane, rational person. That's what makes it surprising, not that his character on TV was currently a babyface.

It's nice to see that MLAM is back. I guess he was waiting until the Duke rape case was settled before reappearing to apologise for assuming that someone was guilty based upon their economical and ethnic background.

It unbelievable for most people that someone would commit this type of crime. To go one step further it is hard to believe that someone with money and apparently a happy life would snap. (None of the retraining orders and back story were public knowledge until after the fact.)

Most people don't want to believe that kind of mental issues lie with in. Generally when something like this happens the neighbors will say "He was a quiet guy we can't believe he would do something like this." It has nothing to do with who he was in wrestling.

There is a pig farmer in BC that killed SPs on an ongoing basis and I can't believe someone didn't nail him years ago. BTK killer neighbor's were shocked when his story broke. People don't really want to believe the worst.

Absolutley, but my point is that I'm listening to callers call into radio shows and saying that Benoit was such a good guy, such a family-loving man. And I just want to know what they're basing this on?

No one bats an eye lash when this same weekend a guy kills his wife, her mother, then himself, but Benoit does it and a lot of people have been saying they can't believe that he would do it, as if they knew him personally.

If one of my brothers did such a despicable act, I'd be shocked and say, "no, it couldn't have been him." But a guy on TV, who's portraying a fake persona each week? I'm shocked in the same way I am when any lunatic kills someone, but I'm not shocked that it was committed by a wrestler who was obviously hawked up on steroids and likely pain medications too, a guy that I know nothing about other than what he portrays on TV. I can understand his colleagues who knew him and worked with him being shocked and defending him, but not those who knew him as his wrestling character.

It would be like people who didn't know O.J. Simpson as a football player being shocked he'd be a double-murderer because he was Detective Norbert in Naked Gun.

Well your analogy at the end is quite poor, but I agree with your general point, and yes it bothers me extremely how fans can be so stupid.

The problem with your post to a degree is that you have to separate the " wrestling Character" aspect from the "wrestling worker" aspect which is quite known. Its not that wrestling fans are getting confused with his character. With all the internet chat it becomes quite clear who is a "good worker". And by all accounts Benoit was a great worker and this was known before the tragedy... worked hard, good role model, for the youngsters not a shit disturber in the back, did not cause issues on the outside (that people knew of), quiet guy.. And this is what is deluding some wresling fans....

But it stoll roles back to your point.. he has good qualities as a worker in a job that is very public, And wrestling fans stupidly associate his characterisitcs from his job to his personal life. Kirby Puckett was a great champion in his baseball persona, but was a champion loser off the field. Essentially we have no clue about any of these guys at a personal level..

Some Wrestling fans think they know him personally because he is a "good worker" on his job. Well that's stupid... the attirbutes one shows in his work life often do not follow to there personal life in any field. And some wrestling fans don't seem to be able to make this association

I say "some" because I qualify as sort of a wrestling fan. I;ll watch anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours a week (basically I often flip the chanel). I watch wrestling for the crap... stupid characters, stupid fans, the side stuff sometimes amuses me. I really don't give a shit who is the champion ot who should be getting a "push"... I use wrestling not to admire the guys, but I actually like maying fun of them .... but I know just enough to know the serious wrestling fans that are "marks" and have lost a bit of touch with reality.. and there are alot of them
