Caught a bit of the news last night. Apparently a whole lot of merchants don't have a lot of faith in either the notion of a "peaceful protest" or the ability of the police to protect them and have taken to plywooding up their stores.

Can't say I blame them. If it was me I'd be installing half inch steel plate, never mind plywood.

I guess it's another case of how it should be and how it really is.

Did you not get the memo? Since there is rioting and looting that needs to be done, Covid is no longer an issue!
If I were in John Tory shoes I'd have a bunch of very large By-Law officers handing out $1000 fines for not social distancing. Stop the spread and fill the coffers for much-needed funds.

According to a CTV news report late last night, The Bay took down their boards. Apparently, The Bay was accused of being anti-black and racist by putting up boards.
So protecting your property from looters is also Racism? According to whom?

If there is rioting and looting , hope our boys' in black will start busting some heads!, not like '92 when they did nothing.

you know what is funny; so many great people couldn't have a proper funeral with their loved ones in attendance because of social distance measures,

but now, suddenly, it is ok to go to a mass protest and looting event

I think I heard Delsin Aventus (organizer) interviewed on CP 24 say that BLM was not invited nor welcome to join the match. Finally, common sense prevails.

I think BLM is there as the protesters are shouting "Black Lives Matter!"

There are like 3 separate protest marches right now,, "The March for Change", "I Can't Breathe" and "BLM".

Deslin said that he spoke to some people from BLM, some supported his march, some BLM people were not pleased.

I think it is obvious by now, and given how well all involved in today's protests in Toronto behaved, that any violence and looting that may happen here this weekend will be carried out by assholes using the protests as an excuse for looting and their own radical agendas.

That can pretty much be said for all the cities with protests. I truly believe most of the protests are planned with good and peaceful intent. There is always an element at the ready to take advantage and turn a good thing into chaos for their own benefit. Cheapens the message for the peaceful folks and harms the city in unforgivable ways.
