When on Bloor getting on the to DVP, right after the overpass, there are cops waiting in the school parking lot for speeders. They are hidden, so never go above 55kph through there. Better safe then sorry...

Oh yeah and don't drink and drive, pound at the red lights. :D

Even the RIDE program has gone politically correct. It is no longer the Christmas Ride program but a "festive season" ride program. The stupidity of the PC wording never ends.

Fucking Nazi pull you over assholes. Back to Berlin with them
Sorry don't agree that it gets drunks off the road.
Drunk.......... just take the back way. If I was drinking and driving ( and I don't. Hardly ever drink any spirits ) i would never take the majors. Just slip on thru the back roads or smaller streets that attract no Nazi's.
Ride checks just add to the growing list of personal freedom and right to privacy that are being legislated away with apparently little concern by most people. After all we got stop the terrorists...right. Shit they may be driving around drunk even
Sorry can't give in the Ride Nazi's

The RIDE program is on all year round!
One Friday night in the summer of 2005 going from one point in Scarborough over to an area in East York north of the Danforth i managed to run into FOUR different RIDEs.
So whats new about this?

How would that work if you get stopped by ride more than once on your way home. Can you tell them that you got stopped at the last intersection?
You can, but you will still have to answer all the questions right. I was once stopped twice in 5 minutes in beautiful Bowmanville. Once as I entered off the highway 401 and once before making the final turn to my abode, which happens to be near the exit of town on Hwy 2. I don't drink so it was no problem. Actually I thanked the officers in both cases and volunteered to go and get them coffee from Timmy's as it was a blustery night. They declined but thanked me for the offer.

During the blackout I also made sure I had water with me if I went out and offered it to whoever was manning the intersections, trying to keep the traffic moving.

yeah, I think stash has some major issues to deal with....sure, you can say that it is another impediment to our freedom but it only impedes the freedom of those that drink and drive because since we have "freedom" there are still those that aren't responsible enough to appreciate that freedom to govern themselves responsibly and NOT drink and drive. Therefore to protect those of us that want to arrive alive, I thank god that we have cops and the ride program.

See, if more or even most people had a little more common sense we wouldn't need so many cops or programs like this.

When the ride program is run properly by the officers it is a minor inconvenience and I feel it is worth while . The extra ride programs around Christmas is not designed to really catch people , it is more there as a preventative scare program so less people will be hurt/killed during the holidays .

Good point PizzaB but if my memory is correct, last year they caught an inordinate amount of DUI's as well as people who were just Drunk enough to get a 24 hr suspension.

I seem to recall that the numbers were even higher last year than previous years and the cops made a statement alluding to the fact that it was dismaying as it seemed people weren't getting the message.

Let's hope that people smarten up this year.....

Only thing I HATE about the ride program is that the cops are inconsistent. I got
stopped once, told the officer that I had ONE drink, and he gave me a breathylizer
test. So as I'm doing this test, I see a ton of (white) guys pass by, tell the cops
that they had 3-4 drinks, but still get let go.

So I have ONE drink all night and am obviously perfectly fine, and still get pulled
over. Yet guys with red faces are allowed to continue driving... Great job BOZOs!

Meculpa, sometimes reverse pscyhology or honesty works.

As for being able to hear the guys say they had 3-4 drinks, if you could (because you are nowhere near close to them when taking the breathalyzer) then I would think the cops would assume that they're drunk and pull them aside.
They're not in this to nail anybody specific, unless they believe they're intoxicated.

To the RIDE program, I say, BRING IT THE FUCK ON.

I dont think you would believe that if you saw me that day. I had ONE drink at
around 9pm (to cheers my Buddy on his B-day), then got pulled over around 1am.
Tell me how I could have shown any signs of alcohol after 4 hours.

Sounds pretty spot on. It's the only program that if you are charged with impairment, you lose your license right on the spot, and do not get a chance to dispute the charges against you. It's the only program run like a military check point. If you look suspisious or not, you get put under the microscope.

Instead a better idea would be hanging around the bars at 2am and start pulling the people leaving the bars. You have a reason to pull them over. You just saw them leave a bar. And chances are you would be able to find alot more violations. And instead of getting your license suspended, you get to spend the night in the drunk tank.

Actually, I was a little over a car length away from the cars passing by, and I
was under the 427 bridge on Dixon Rd. Trust me, I heard everything loud and clear!

Well, you'd also lose your licence if you were driving and the ride spot checks do set up in areas that are known to have more than the usual impaired drivers.

I don't know if they still do, but there was this bar way out on eglinton by the airport that to get out, you could only turn right and there was an island so you couldn't turn left. They set up there every friday and saturday. I know I got caught there once myself.....

they had this program in quebec called the red nose express, I heard on the radio that they are setting the same up in peel or somewhere....that's where volunteers will come, pick you up, one will drive you and the other will drive your car home.
