There's a major shortage of physicians. The Trudeau government has either forced them out of the country or incentivized earlier than expected retirement. Your best option is out of country care. My dad dealt with bowel blockages in his last few years of life it was brutal. So I feel for you.
In Ontario its been a combo of DoFo lowering fees for doctors and adding more admin for them to do.
Family doctors have been leaving and retiring.

I believe the lessers are the more important comparison. They are the ones that suffer more in a private care system, while they still get very good treatment from the single payer/government system.
Disagree, this is merely slumming and an excuse for doing the same thing that obviously isn't working all that well.
"Oh look, we're a dumpster fire but at least we're better than them. Let's keep doing the same thing." Typical Canadian-ism.
Instead we should be, "Oh look, these OECD countries have quicker access, better outcomes and spend much less money to maintain an overall better healthcare system. How TF do we do that what needs to change."

You don't look down to improve, you look up to improve.

I used to be a Medcan client for years... about 15 years ago I quit because of the same issues you are experiencing. Was a waste of money. Tried Cleveland Clinic for a year and didn't see the value although the service was better.
Damn :( can anyone recommend anything good? Do people go to buffalo for tests or treatment?

The Mayo Clinic as well as the Cleveland clinic have offices in Toronto, for scheduling appointments. There are also several first class clinics in Buffalo.
I go to Buffalo for MRI, no waiting time.

That's been going on since at least the Wynne days. They were fighting with doctors over the fee schedule for years before Ford took office.
There are several reasons for the doctors leaving/retiring and little of it has to do with the Ford gov't. Structural tax changes brought in by the Trudeau government is a big reason why. Demographics (the aging of the MD population) played a role too. And lets not forget the vaccine mandates.

I work in the healthcare sphere I see it firsthand. I've spoken with several physicians and my own family physician who recently retired. Good enough.

You think this has no effect?

There are many private MRI and PET CT in Montreal for half price compare to Buffalo. . They are anle to book within few days since they get referrals.
