And if Israel refuses to recognize Palestine you will just have a continual series of conflicts interrupted by ceasefires.
It is a conflict for statehood at its core, so both are responsible.
Israel has an army, but it’s not trying to occupy and rule Gaza and it has left it a while ago and offered it to Egypt. If Gaza had a state and as a consequence, an army, they would try to occupy and rule Israel.

So they are not the same.

The West Bank is occupied and the settlements there are illegal per international law.
How a Palestinian state looks like needs to be negotiated but a Palestinian state needs to exist along with Israel.
Otherwise there is no end to this conflict despite the superior damage that Israel is capable of.

It’s the other way around. Since a Palestinian state with the current level of radicalization of Palestinians will present a clear and deadly danger to israel, israel cannot allow it to exist and smaller conflicts are preferable even though they may be endless.

Then yes, if that is the reasoning you will have continuing violence and increasing terrorism making life miserable for all.
Violence will only get worse with time.
The conflict could be small (or relatively smaller) but I am unsure if Israelis themselves would prefer that when they see their loved ones dying.

The Israelis have no way out. Allowing gaza to import weapons would be insanity. And gaza pretty much already had a state except permission to import weapons.

Security will be the main point of negotiation to establish Palestinian statehood.
Whether weapons should be allowed, or what kinds of weapons can be allowed will be a point of negotiation.

Theoretically, it sounds good, but practically planes from Iran are going to land in Gaza and containers are going to be taken into the tunnels and then rockets are going to fly at Israel from Gaza.
So isn’t israel going to be back at square one only facing bigger and more rockets?

You don’t but Israelis do. Hasbolla receives weapons from Iran routinely. I don’t think you can seriously dispute that with the current leadership of Iran hamas would be receiving weapons shipments whenever it would become possible.

gaza literally was independent except couldn’t import weapons. What they were missing was not independence. They were missing destruction of Israel.

No, my comment is that we dont know if that will be a direct outcome of Palestinian statehood.
Statehood could make Hamas irrelevant.

Yeah their biggest victory is going to weaken them to the point of making them irrelevant. Are you serious?

How can7you recognize something that does not exist? There is no recognized State of Palestine.

The situations are not equivalent.

Probably the general pop is sort of preoccupied with the whole "having no homes or food and their families being wiped out" to really consider the finer points of ballot boxes and organizing a mandate to vote out the guys with guns who are in charge.
That excuse only works for the last 15 months. How long has hamas held dictatorial sway over Gaza? 16 years? 18?

You recognize and acknowledge that the demand to form Palestine exists just like 140+ countries do.
I think many Israelis already do presently.
