Listen, Amsterdam is slightly more than 1/3 of Toronto area wise. But the population density is only marginally smaller than Toronto!!
The fact is that Amsterdam has proper bike lanes that are well maintained during winter, unlike that of Toronto!!
The fact is that Amsterdam is a very old city constructed around the idea of water transport (for freight) and has very little of its precious below sea level land to commit to roads. It has bike lanes because there is no room for cars anyway. Is the result nice or pleasant? No. Just walking across a street in Amsterdam is a harrowing experience! It also makes for very inefficient delivery (unless the business is on one of the canals). Luckily, there are no hills for cyclists when all the land is reclaimed from the sea.

And the number one export of the Netherlands - refined petroleum products! That's not very environmental, is it, Beav? At least they haven't let their own lifestyle limitations blind them to the needs of the rest of the planet.

BTW, number 2 is pharmaceuticals. Figures, as probably everyone there is on anxiety meds!

Amsterdam is a fun place to visit BECAUSE IT IS SO ODDLY LAID OUT. Like a funhouse. It's a good example of WHAT NOT TO DO for modern cities.

p.s. It's considered good luck to throw your bike into a canal in Amsterdam. Thousands do it every year. Maybe that should tell you how much the citizens love biking!

Somehow you think it's bright idea to shoulder the fee for the trucks to take the 407...Do we have unlimited funds only you know?
The fact that we have to is only because the conservatives sold off the 407 in the first place.
Which do you think is cheaper, building the 413 or paying truck 407 fees?

You are so uninformed in your cozy inner-city slum.

It will work with existing highways so that routes make sense and are better connected.
You think they're just building a new highway beside the existing one redundantly? Lol! You are so lost in your bias and hatred it's making you look stupid.

The proposed 52-kilometre Highway 413 and transitway will extend from Highway 400 (between Kirby Road and King-Vaughan Road) in the east to the Highway 401/407 ETR interchange area in the west, connecting the regions of York, Peel, and Halton. The project includes a 4 km extension to Highway 410 and a 3 km extension to Highway 427 for a total of 59 km for the corridor.
The highway would have 11 interchanges at municipal roads and features such as electric charging stations, service centres, carpool lots and truck inspection stations will all be explored as part of the design.
The transitway would be a separate corridor running alongside the highway dedicated exclusively for public transit, such as buses or light rail transit.

Go ahead, prove your claim.
You made it.
Bevr said it was under used...he can prove it since he made that claim.
Why don't you just watch from the sidelines rather than interjecting into other's posts? Just like you sit at home collecting welfare and pretending to contribute to society?

We have to pay for the trucks because Mike Harris sold off the 407 and Ontario can't decide who pays fees anymore.

So what you're saying is that bike lanes in Toronto during the winter are useless?
Thanks for agreeing with me on that.
You are confused as to the difference between snow and winter. It is only when it snows and it sticks around for a few days is when the bike lanes become an issue.
Not the whole winter. You are really catching the bull by the tail.......typical Skoob!!

Amsterdam is half the size of Toronto in terms of land area. So you're wrong there.
Amsterdam has 20% more population density than Toronto so you're wrong there again.

Bike lanes work in Amsterdam for various reasons.
Bike lanes don't work in Toronto for various reasons.

Are you following along here? Too complicated?
Skoob, try and get your facts straight for once.

Toronto population: 3,025,657 and 630.2 Sq. Km = 4,801 per sq km
Amsterdam population: 841,282 and 219 Sq. Km = 3,841 per sq km
Meaning Toronto is more dense than Amsterdam by 25% more. You are wrong there!!
630.2 / 219 = 2.88, meaning that Amsterdam is close to 1/3 that of Toronto. I am right and you are totally wrong there!!

Bike lanes in Toronto are not built to anywhere close to the same standard as Amsterdam. Another fact!!

407 underused? You may want to check the stats on that. You would be surprised.
Adding lanes in areas where there are usual bottlenecks would help congestion.
Obviously, you have not used the 407 as often as I have. The 407ETR is nowhere as congested as the 401.
I can get from one destination to another in half the time as the 401 during rush hours!!

I would definitely vote for Poilievre. I love the guy. Metaphorically speaking. And I voted for Justin in 2015. *Not since however. Justin is an incompetent fool and he has destroyed the country. I won't bother with the details, but that's what it boils down to.

But in my riding, Parkdale High Park, there is absolutely 0 chance that a conservative will win the riding. So I will hold my nose and vote for the NDP just to take away a seat (hopefully) from Mr. Dress-up. My MP is Arif Virani and he has recently been promoted to Minister of Justice / Attorney General. Mr. Dress-up knows the riding is in jeopardy. So he figured he would raise Virani's profile in the hope of keeping the seat. Last election, the NDP fielded a joke of a candidate. If they field a strong candidate this time, they have a chance of victory. So yeah, I'm voting for the NDP, even though they are as bad or worse than the liberals. Fuck you Justin Trudeau, I'm so sick of watching a lazy-assed pretty boy who hates Canada run the country into the ground. I don't know how we even claw our way out of the hole he has dug for us.
