police accused of lying in court

A few years ago, when I lived in Peel region, the police there were deemed most corrupt in the country. Beatings and robberies of drug dealers were common, though few were reported. Sure, there are good cops, but the ones not committing crimes usually cover for the ones that do.

In most places in Canada or the U.S. their careers are shot - unless they are going to "fly a desk" from now on.

They should be charged and convicted for both assault and perjury. However I think the guy should still be charged. After all, he parked his badly damaged car, which had been in an accident, and tried to get a taxi home. The Cops believed he had tried to run over another constable and led police on a chase. He didn't deserve to get beat up but he did deserve to be convicted for impaired, leaving the scene of an accident etc. What if he had injured or killed someone, does he still walk?

As I asked deemed by whom?

Pearson has changed jurisdiction as few times over the years between Peel Region, RCMP and even joint. Today, I don't know.

I think it would depend on a nature of the allegations. If it's a contraband it'd be RCMP, but if an arriving passenger has a old warrant for arrest, he is likely to be dealt with by peel police.

Quite possibly. About 15 years ago i got a curbside parking ticket from the RCMP, but things may have changed.

He was charged... it was during the trial that the judge found the police officers to by lying.
If the police are so out to lunch that they think lying in open court is ok, contrary to video evidence then he deserves to walk.
Seriously... one officer turned his camera off to 'conserve energy'?? Really?? Cops really are stupid aren't they?

they get off so the cops beat them up

esp gangs like the hells angels which seem immune to justice by paying off cops and with their well healed lawyers


whe the system fails yes it is a good thing

wait until you are extorted by the angels or they kill a family member for a percieved insult and no one will testify out of fear then we will discuss this from a broader perspective

Oh we should all fear the big bad bikers! Seeming as this will likely never happen, you're argument of," Support the police because we're a bit better than the criminals," is quite ridiculous. Outlaw bikers are known thugs, police must take an oath, to protect the PUBLIC. Not just some people, but all. What do you think cops do with the drugs and money they steal? Pretty sure it doesn't get checked in a evidence locker. Oh, BTW, I probably should have write, "one of the most corrupt."
