It's my own belief that the US invasion wouldn't get past rush hour traffic on the QEW. They could be there for days without TV and fast food and the invasion would stall and fall apart.

Russia already has the Donbas. Its too late now that every country bordering Russia are joining NATO. The only option the USA has given Putin is a complete massacre of the Ukrainian army as the USA gives them a false hope that they can actually win. The USA is in a conundrum. If they take out Putin, they'll have to take care of Xi too.

Us, them, us, them. Also Ukraine was nowhere near joining forces with us UNTIL the Russians invaded. Also FInland was not in the slightest bit interested in joining NATO until... come on guess... yeah until Poutine did his invasion.
Also if Russia for some reason wanted to waste it's time joining forces with Mexico for the 2 weeks it would last vs the US, I doubt if the US would be all that bothered, the war would end too soon.

The Chinese military is large but
1: It has limited air and sea lift capacity. Sure if it has ports and air fields it could use civie assets to move shit, but you don't drop paratroopers would of 747's and you don't land marines from oil tankers.
No point having a massive army if you can't get them onto location. Sure this can be built up over time but it hasn't yet
2: Air and sea landings are not easy and institutional experience is nice. Dieppe, cough cough. Also air landings are a bit of a mixed bag also. Also landing craft and transport planes are very vulernable being slow and unarmored beasts.
3: Half the time it's typhoon season, there are only something like 12 or so beaches that can take a landing [a small landing see point 1], so easy to defend.
4: Taiwan has a smaller military but it's active component dwarfs the West Taiwan air mobile and marine force.
5: Taiwan has about a million reservists, and the country is rice paddies and heavily forested mountains... sounds kinda like Vietnam.
6: If there are sanctions China has problems with oil and feeding themselves until at least they improve their links with Russia. The CCP has control over West Taiwan on the basis of brining stability and prospertiy, once that goes via sanctions and you create an unstable situation.
