Don't like the guy but it makes perfect sense to me. I don't understand why more players don't choose to retire early but instead contine playing long after they've past their prime and their bodies become fucked up beyond repair.
Because the same belief in themself that propelled them to the top, also makes them hang on too long. They still think that they can do it.

Yeah guess that makes sense, athletes are a different breed and then there's also greed. If the money is there, there will not care, if the body tear.

This is probably closest to the truth. In my mind he could still probably help a team skills-wise, maybe even as a mentor....but he needs to be a mature leader, not a side-show.
