"The Toronto air show is such a great allegory for politics right now: no one likes it, no one asked for it, it makes life miserable and yet politicians seem incapable of stopping it."Toronto, Canada and Global Breaking News – CP24

The British had the Nimrod and Vulcan aircraft back in 1984 at the show. I think that the U S A had a B1 bomber that year, too. I should check the photos that I had taken at that show, to confirm.Yeah it was quite loud, but it was awesome seeing those planes up close from the balcony. If anything, I would like the air show to be more international with European and Asian participants next time, so we can see a few different fighter jets!
“There have been nine recorded accidents and incidents in the 75-year history of the CIAS (and four more related incidents during practice), including crashes resulting in deaths in 1953, 1966, 1977, 1989, and most recently in 1995.”Has the air show in Toronto ever had a major accident? We've all seen the vids where that happens....
There was a crash and pilot death at the Oshawa airport a few years ago. Wasn’t that part of the Toronto sir show? Some military jets used to use Oshawa as a stopover or base.“There have been nine recorded accidents and incidents in the 75-year history of the CIAS (and four more related incidents during practice), including crashes resulting in deaths in 1953, 1966, 1977, 1989, and most recently in 1995.”
"It's a hoax dummy". There, fixed it for you! Do some homework.Uses up a lotta jet fuel. given the ongoing crisis (and pu-leeeze, don't come up with that tired "it's a hoax" crap!) people need to find ways to stay amused without expanding the carbon footprint. Same goes for NASCAR and drag racing...
The airshow is a huge tool for military recruiting as it creates a sense of national pride!Toronto, Canada and Global Breaking News – CP24

Too bad. Recruits are in for a let down when they see what they have to play with. The airshow is a huge tool for military recruiting as it creates a sense of national pride!
You `ll need to head to the States or England for that. I began going to our air show in the early `70s and it now seems greatly diminished from long ago.Yeah it was quite loud, but it was awesome seeing those planes up close from the balcony. If anything, I would like the air show to be more international with European and Asian participants next time, so we can see a few different fighter jets!
I live just south of you, by the lake and I know what you mean about the fighter jets, the Navy Blue Angels roaring right above our heads.I love the air show. I live in the west end right over the flight path of the blue angels setting up for their manoeuvres. I get a blast out of watching the blue angels scream right overhead, so low you can almost see the pilots' call-signs on the side of the cockpit. It's got it all, the pinnacle of engineering, the cutting edge of technology and a group of super-human men basically riding a pair of jet engines engaged in a test of endurance, skill, brains, extreme physical fitness and split second hand eye co-ordination. To say nothing of the fact that these are the same young men who would be willing to lay it on the line to protect our way of life.
There's nothing else like it.
And I love it.
The British Red Arrows were in the show a few years ago.Yeah it was quite loud, but it was awesome seeing those planes up close from the balcony.
