I do understand the slippery slope argument. But I never said for SURE Christianity/ catholicsm would die out in fact I never said anything like that. I stated what Canada has done to accommodate islam.. Ive also said what catholic schools do and how they carry out their day. Ive also discussed public schools. Heres an idea. Why don't you actually read my post without trying to put words into my mouth? I asked a question and that was it . Your turning it into a psychology/ sociology lesson ; something ive already studied in college. please don't try to school me frank. I know exactly what you are talking about. I never once said it was for sure going to die out . lmao that would be crazy. In fact what I said was I don't think it will die out because people will celebrate and follow whatever they want. But in schools will it die out ? In other words will religion be taken out of all school systems. Some say yes, some say no, and some just don't care. I'm going to leave it at that. You know that having gone to college doesn't make your statements any more credible right? You don't have to prove that you've studied something formally.

So to answer your question. In the catholic system it will definitely not die out. If you are non catholic and want to go to a catholic school but don't want the catholic imagery that's your problem. Especially since a public alternative is often close by. In the public system it is fairly neutral already instead of Xmas concerts you have Holiday concerts. And depending on teacher, school and board different amounts of time are spent acknowledging other religious holidays as they occur. The last remnants of Christian stuff in public schools would be closures on Christian holidays and arts and crafty activities that have holiday themes like Easter and Xmas.

But this is the way it should be catholic should have a Christian focus. Although I think 1.6 billion should not come from the government to run catholic schools in Ontario. Private schools that collect tuitions can do whatever they want. Public schools should be neutral

If you wanna pray so bad then do it at home FFS.

The problem is no politician will touch catholic funding of schools with a 10 foot pole.
The votes he/she would lose would be tremendous and almost assure an election defeat

and that's how this whole issue got started. Islam dictates that their followers must pray on a set schedule, and Muslim students were leaving school to go pray at the closest mosque, missing out on a lot of class time.

I agree. I used to miss first period Grade 13 calculus class to go smoke up with my friends. I barely passed the course and it was my own fault.

fyi that's how it should be done ! religious groups should not be shutting down computer labs and denying other students entry for half hour ! It takes out of other childrens education.... This is a fucken elementary school ffs. Again. I'm truly disgusted by some of these comments. If you want to pray wait until after school and go to a mosque . Or go on your own time at your set times and risk failing but stop messing with other kids education !That's all I'm saying !

If it was a racist term I doubt three places of business would use it.

I briefly searched WW's posting history and saw that he rarely post in the Lounge and hasn't posted any other racist comments that I can see.

But the fact someone with this handle (that he created on his own, doesn't mean he used a pre-existing brand) was motivated to post a bold direct racial slur in this thread, set off red lights in my head.

the green party was willing to touch the catholic funding. it is from their website that i saw the estimated savings of 1.6 billion

i find it hard to believe that a scheduled class would be bumped for prayer.

The history of Canada was founded by the Christian faith and in my life time it's worked out for over 100 years.
I grew up in the peel school board and it shouldn't have to change a thing or have to change the legislation for these savages.

Even though it is a PUBLIC school . The definition of public school is State-funded provincial schools (which are Roman Catholic public schools), according to a google definition.

This is probably causing havoc because since they are allowing muslims to pray whenever they want in the school & that gives them special treatment. ...

It started when we gave in to those minority Catholics and allowed them to pray in publicly funded schools.

I disagree. Secular thinking has chipped away at the biblical foundations of our country one brick at a time over the decades.

Our 'biblical foundations' are very out of date. Even the English common law we derived our system from has had secular influences for centuries.

And thankfully those 'foundations' have been replaced. I'm glad I can browse a website devoted to sex outside of the confines of marriage.

I'm sorry but immigrants have been coming to our country demanding special priveleges and changing our Canadian laws. So if you agree with what all these other people are saying then kudos to you. I, However am a proud Canadian and think that this is WRONG. It is my opinion and I am entitled to it !
