Packers-Seahawks Last Play of Game

What a wild ending that will be talked about for a long time. Not good for the NFL and their replacement refs. Jennings had the pick but he should have just knocked the ball down. I give Tate credit for everything he did on the play (like not getting called for offensive pass interference) but it should not have been a TD.

One ref ruled a touchback and the other ruled a TD. How did replay not get it right?

robbed on the final drive, shouldn't have even gotten to the last play. during the drive, a pass interference against GB. We need the real refs back.

I agree with the above.

What I think I saw happen was as the two refs approached the pile, they were looking at each other to see what the other guy was gonna call. The guy in the back starts to raise his arms so he could wave no reception by the offense. Before he completed his signal the guy coming from the front saw the other guy start raising his arms, so he quickly raised both arms up to signal TD as he thought that's what the other guy was gonna do and it would look better if they both signal the same thing. Only he misread what his colleague was going to signal so they signalled differently.

The pass interference call against GB on the last drive which allowed the drive to continue was a totally bogus call.

Players and fans are outraged. The league will not cave until one of two things happen. The fans boycott the games in both attendance and decreased TV viewership/ratings. The other possibility is if the owners express their displeasure. Their teams are worth hundreds and hundreds of million each and their product is being ruined for the sake of saving what amounts to pennies for them.

I think the best hope lies with the owners who Gooddell has muted for the time being. These are powerful guys used to getting their way. They won't shut up forever especially if they feel their product is being devalued.

In the meantime, I definitely agree with the league handing harsh penalties to players and coaches who go too far in harassing the refs either verbally or by manhandling them as Belichik did yesterday.

I like the NFL but feel bad for these refs. It would be like comparing a Tier 2 Football player to someone in the NFL. They have not seen action at this speed and don't have the skill set to officiate at such a level. Players, coaches, commentators contstantly degrade them while they are learning infront of millions of watchers. I'm sure their salariers have gone up, but I hope their is some training going on in the background to help these guys out. You can tell they don't even know the full NFL rules, which would differ from where they normally officiate.

However, that one ref who told McCoy he needed him to have a good week for his fantasy pool, that may have been a bit too much :)

Sometimes just knocking the ball down, just bats the ball to a receiver just hanging around. Just like what happened in the Titans-Lions game sunday.
It was a interception all the way, Packers were robbed!!!! The receiver even pushed off, just before the ball came down.

I find that with betting being such a big thing in the NFL . That the fact these officials could be bought ( cause they proably don't make a boat load of cash ) doesn't concern anyone in the league offices .

bad call...jennings got that ball to his chest which should be ruled no completion when both players have the ball. tate was actually behind jennings when they fell but only got the hold of the ball. this refs are under pressure. they made the "right" call because it would be stupid to call a no completion on that stadium.

The NFL has reviewed the films and is fully standing behind the call.

A complete farce.

They have to ....just to save face ...if they didn't agree...they would be admitting that the replacement officials are not doing the job!
You are completely right. But they could have said nothing. I think this will inflame the issue.

I can see where the officials were coming from. Where or not it was the correct call there is an arguement that could be made in favour of Seattle.

The NFL rules are so convoluted now that I am surprised anyone knows for sure when judging any call/play.

Until the real refs come back i will do the following.

1 No longer watch nfl football. College football is a far better product anyways and their method of replay is far superior.
2 If the real refs are not back soon i will sell my tickets to Monday Night in Washington vs N Y Giants. I can always go later and i have been to many games all over.

Let's not get all dramatic here boys. I'm not a fan of either team and have no dog in this fight.

The packers like to blame ONE play for the loss!

BULLSHIT

ThEy were punished all night. If they had not allowed so many sacks...and played a good game....this call means nothing.

The packers loSt the game in many ways.....not because of a bad call!

I'm a Packer fan and I agree. But up to this point they were winning 12-7 and this call was blown big time. They missed a clear offensive pass interference by the Seattle receiver then they failed to see (2nd time through replay) that the GB defender caught the ball in the end zone and the Seattle receiver partially stripped it out.

What did you guys think of...

a) the Brandon Browner Illegal use of hands to the face call that aided a Packer scoring drive in the game.
b) the DPI on Chancellor that was perfectly timed on the Packer TD drive. (You do realize that the Packers drive ends in a punt and NOT a TD if that penalty was not called right?)
c) the non-call on Woodson for DPI on Moore on the final SEA drive.

Very interested to hear your opinions on these calls as well. Did you agree/disagree with these calls/non-calls and if so why?

But I agree with you newtohobby - we need the A-team back. Hochuli, Carey , Winter and the rest of em because there are way too many issues with the officiating. Issues spotting the ball , bad calls or non-calls on holding, PI, illegal contact, etc. Officials not announcing the jersey # correctly on penalties.
