This one's for you, Goob - since you've commented on this a number of times in recent threads, I thought I'd deal with it in here where people don't have to be subjected to it if they don't want.
Just because a team outgoaltends its opponent, doesn't mean the team, as a whole, outplayed them. Hextall won the Conn Smythe trophy when his team LOST the Finals. I'd guess that Roberto Luongo outplayed his counterpart in most games this year, but that didn't stop the Panthers from losing most of them.
Goaltending is just a part of hockey. It's a big part, but just a part.
You'd think this was obvious, but I guess your powers of reasoning are pretty muddy.

)Sorry I don't think Luongo out-goaltended the competition this year even though he set a record for most saves in a season. Luongo's style created probably one third of those shots because he gives up big rebounds. I think his stats are a little misleading, but then again from a statistical perspective this whole discussion is misleading.
Personally, I don't know why Luongo's tagged as the best Canadian goalie and the future of the national team because once his body starts to age, and it will facing 50 shots a game, he won't be as quick to get to the extra shots and the rebounds he gives out will kill him.

But Luongo's Save Percentage was the third best in the league! So, if what you're saying is true, that he was giving up big rebounds, then he must be even better than his Save Percentage would indicate, being able to make so many stops on rebound shots.
I couldn't disagree more with what you said. Luongo deserves the Vezina, and will be a candidate for the next ten or twelve years.

Florida sucks, yes. But his style makes their entire defense seem that much worse than it is. If he didn't give up so many rebounds, there wouldn't be that many additional shots and the defense in front of him wouldn't seem so bad.
