700 charges out of a population of 15 million isn't that bad. It would be interesting to know what past years numbers were like.
How many impaired drivers were NOT caught driving around who could have killed INNOCENT people? There out there all the time.

It appears they have been dropping significantly.

* 2015: 1,753
* 2016: 1,539
* 2017: 1,450
* 2018: 1,455
* 2019: 1,342
* 2022: 700'ish

Did not see anything per the Covid years (imagine 2020 was next to zero with no one out driving...).

I wonder how many charges are borderline as some people may have had a couple of drinks and did not think they would blow over.

It would be interesting to see how many people blow way over the limit - Where they are smashed (so to speak).
Wonder if there is the same amount of ride checks each year?

How many drunk drivers didn't they catch.
Also as someone else said, 1 is too many as it's a completely avoidable thing unless you are a Cnut like some of my family members.
Yes , you wonder how many drunk drivers are around that get away with it.

That's about 20 a day, I don't think it will ever stop.
I never understand this mindset. Of course it will never stop, unless we were to wrap ourselves in a complete bubble. It's on a spectrum. We can reduce it, to the point where the effort/expense incurred is exorbitant, or the freedoms it revokes too oppressive, but you can't eliminate it.

Even though I drink..alcohol should be banned completely. Its one of the most dangerous drugs.

YES its a drug. If youre drinking...youre partaking in consuming drugs...

It would be interesting to know how many were high on cannabis.
There are probably more people driving stoned than there are drunks. I see so many people toking while driving. Fucking losers.

No matter what the percentages are, I still can't believe so many would do this during the highest concentration of RIDE checks during the year, I mean, you honestly have to be completely new not to know this.

I was recently at Xmas party. Probably 100 people, coworkers. I swear I was the only sober one there as I had driven to the venue and wanted to drive home as I hate public transportation and Uber.
The problem is, alcohol impairs your judgement and ability to make sound decisions. As a friend once told me, he would never consider drinking and driving when he's sober. But after a few drinks, it no longer seems like a big deal. And that's the problem. Other than the people who don't give a f*ck about anything, seemingly smart people who know drinking and driving is a very bad idea, fail to realize it once they've had a few drinks. How many times have you heard someone say, (after consuming alcohol) I'm okay to drive. Well, that's the way they feel, because they've been drinking. They only think of the consequences when they're sober.

That's why if you plan on drinking, plan to have a way home that doesn't involve driving. There is however one problem, a lot of people only plan on having one or two. But then that often leads to three, four or more and that's when the problems begin.

The really smart people plan ahead and have the ability to make an alternative plan if they've had a few or more drinks. Unfortunately, many people aren't that smart.

Something you should also be aware of, is if you've just taken a sip of vodka, scotch or some other spirits and are requested to blow right after, you may blow a warn which will lead to an immediate suspension. You haven't broken any laws, you're not legally over the limit, but the COP is judge jury and executioner. You have no legal rights to dispute the suspension. Which I say is completely unjust.

Interestingly enough, if you drank some water right before the test, you likely wouldn't blow a warn. I have done an experiment with a friend who's a COP (with his breathalyser) to prove my point. So if you have had only a drink or two, make sure you drink some water before you blow, to be on the safe side.

I think that alcohol causes way more impairment than pot.

Who is Alexa?
This study doesn't show "the criminal gene" it shows some links with slightly higher rates of ASPD.

It was meant to get you started there are thousands of papers on the various born this way . Is likely most crime never occurred. They are not sufficient but they are necessary. The toxic set of genes. Not surprising A wolf which became s collie via gene selection shows the power of genes and personality.

Exactly. There have been thousands of papers showing that there is no such thing as "the criminal gene".
Glad we agree.

Impaired is impaired, weather it's booze, pot, cocaine, etc.
Legally. But in real world terms, they are not the same level of impaired.
