That's about 20 a day, I don't think it will ever stop.

More than 700 people have been charged with impaired driving this RIDE season, according to the OPP.

“We continue with our Festive RIDE campaign which has been running since Nov. 17, and since that time we have already charged over 700 people with impaired driving,” said Sgt. Kerry Schmidt.
He said more than 11,000 charges have been laid as a result of the 93,000 checks conducted by officers in this year’s holiday campaign.

“We are asking everyone that if you are out celebrating with alcohol or drugs, that you do not get into a vehicle and drive home,” Schmidt said. “If you drink, don’t drive. If you drive, don’t drink.”

The murder rate is never dropped 0 ever in the history of the world. Since we not know the criminal gene we could theoretically breed it out of humanity But I don't think this is going to happen. An even so in certain regimes criminals are considered heroes such as people under the Nazi government. It took a long time for me to Come to terms that my family were professional criminals in a oppressive government. A healthy society probably needs a certain level of ignore the laws.

700 charges out of a population of 15 million isn't that bad. It would be interesting to know what past years numbers were like.

It appears they have been dropping significantly.

* 2015: 1,753
* 2016: 1,539
* 2017: 1,450
* 2018: 1,455
* 2019: 1,342
* 2022: 700'ish

Did not see anything per the Covid years (imagine 2020 was next to zero with no one out driving...).

I wonder how many charges are borderline as some people may have had a couple of drinks and did not think they would blow over.

It would be interesting to see how many people blow way over the limit - Where they are smashed (so to speak).

1 is too many. I have lost 3 friend due to drinking and driving. You don't win any battles when you hit a train.
What's sad is the number of people who are repeat offenders or continue to drive while under suspension.

If those numbers are accurate, that is encouraging that it's going south...

arresting people for cosensal sex
forced speech
non disc!osure of rape all aged
deportation to certain death

and in nations i visited
death for being openly religious
crime to report or talk about a crime made by a corporation

in the usa blow jobs were are? illegal in some states And of course dry towels or And of course dry towns were alcohol is illegal
folks like you are why we had the holocaust ...

Of course now you could argue if someone is against the UNS human rights charter it's not illegal law in the first place So far they've been doing a pretty good job but I wouldn't count on it

Ask for drinking and driving you can be arrested for not driving While drunk you're still considered drinking and driving if you're near your vehicle Or it looks like you have intent to drive. You're not legally actually being arrested for drinking driving your being arrested for not preparing to make sure you can have drink and drive while you are sober.

You cannot a form mens rea while drunk. It's wine drunk driving used to be a defense for murder. The legal justification for moving drunk driving as a defense for murder is You must have a plan For when you are drunk before you drink

In japan there is no legal limit for drinking 1 drop of alcohol makes you guilty of drinking and driving. In some countries it's executable offense. Canada is still pretty soft on this mater.

I remember in my youth seeing a ride trap just beyond customs viewing from Niagara Falls,NY. There was no rush to go home.
By the way, did you know RIDE originally stood for Reduce Impaired Driving in Etobicoke?

How many drunk drivers didn't they catch.
Also as someone else said, 1 is too many as it's a completely avoidable thing unless you are a Cnut like some of my family members.

No matter what the percentages are, I still can't believe so many would do this during the highest concentration of RIDE checks during the year, I mean, you honestly have to be completely new not to know this.

I was recently at Xmas party. Probably 100 people, coworkers. I swear I was the only sober one there as I had driven to the venue and wanted to drive home as I hate public transportation and Uber.

A Quebec RIDE story [whatever they call it there]
I get pulled over. I tell the guy I don't drink [never been drunk, never been over the legal limit, almost never drink close enough]
So he said was I sure.
I said while he was in high school getting drunk and high and banging chicks I was playing Dungeons and Dragons. Him and his crew laughed and let me through without testing, which was fine because I am not a drinker type guy.

It's much much more than 20 per day. Math better.
They started the program on Nov. 17 this year. Assuming they went until Jan. 1, that's 45 days. It's much, much less than 20/day.

You're not a Dcotor and you're not a mathematician. Hahahahaha.

I read that as Dec 17. I am good at math, alas my propensity to skim rather than read carefully is matched only by my penchant for typos
