A fantastic band but I'm not sure if they had a real hit after this. Some good pickin' by David Hidalgo at the end.

On a side note, I saw Los Lobos at Massey Hall maybe 6 or 7 years ago. It had a slow start until they rocked out on She's About a Mover (above) and carried on for the rest of the show. They were great. Excellent musicians.

This song is credited to Nick Lowe but it is really the band Rockpile which also included Dave Edmunds, a star in his own right. He's on the right side and also the chauffeur.

Speaking of Dave Edmunds, he really only had one big hit as well.

Actually, Dave Edmunds' biggest hit was a song he wrote and performed, but the cover by Juice Newton was a really big hit and probably her biggest and the one most people know. I'm going to give his version because it is better.

Cover of the original recording by Ritchie Valens, but not nearly as good. IMHO.

Possibly. But not going to argue because as you said, it's a matter of opinion. I posted it because of the title of the thread.

Good song.

La Bamba reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Will the Wolf Survive reached #78

I have the vinyl album its on, its great!
The first album of theirs that I got was Kiko and about 6 or 7 after that. I got some back catalog as well, a 2 CD retrospective called Just Another Band From East L.A. They were fantastic at Massey Hall. I had 4th row centre. They are way underrated.

Many years ago I bought an album by him which was great. He had that sort of old english style of rock music that I enjoyed. My favourite cover of his was an old song by Don Rollins written in 1964 called The Race Is On which was first recorded by George Jones and is a song about a horse race. Edmund's cover was much better. Sold most of my old 78's albums years ago. What a dumb ass am I.

He had a bit of a rockabilly style and an amazing voice. I got to see Rockpile at the Roxy theater early 80's. Unfortunately he had laryngitis that night and couldn't sing. The 1st album of his I bought was Repeat When Necessary, still my fave.
