You needn't look at Stalin alone anyway.

"An Israeli student finishes high school without ever hearing the name "Genrikh Yagoda," the greatest Jewish murderer of the 20th Century, the GPU's deputy commander and the founder and commander of the NKVD. Yagoda . . . is responsible for the deaths of at least 10 million people."

That 10 million death toll at the hands of a Jew surpasses your 6 million figure for the Holocaust. Jews had a hand in the 4 million African deaths during the slave trade as well.
Except real historians will tell you that the Jew in question really only killed at most 250,000. And he was apparently an atheist communist, so I guess you definintion of jew is racial in some way.

Good of you to tap into quality internet history to try and make this strange and inaccurate point.

The problem with Hamilton was the assumption that people could continue to be paid $50 to $75 an hour to work in the steel mills. It was tough work but good pay if you could get it. But htose days are gone. there are still many well to do people in Hamilto nand the surrounding areas but most commute elsewhere to work.
No-one at Stelco or Dofasco who worked in the mill ever made that kind of money.

And don't be so quick to blame the workers. It's way beyond that.

Those plants used to generate a lot of wealth for Canada and the Canadian economy. Wealth that went to pay the salaries of teachers for example (whom generate no wealth, only spend it.) It's a sad statement about Canada that all we seem good at is digging crap out of the ground and selling the bulk commodities abroad.

Couple eh? I bet they live in a very nice house and do this as a hobby, taking from those who really need it. That's why GTA food banks are always empty, certain groups that are far from starving go there to save money.

It's normally an older asian couple I see at Trinity Belwoods.

Apparently East Asians have the largest brain mass. And their women have wider hips to give birth to such large heads.

I was told that at one time it was in the 50 some odd dollar range. This was close to 10 years ago. So I just assumed the rates had gone up. Granted that is just hearsay and speculation. But whatever the number it's been deemed cheaper to do it elsewhere. You're right it's not the worker's fault but be it hte union or whatever the wages got to a breaking point and the companies went elsehwere.

I know hamilton very well.

The white trash you are talking about is most prevalent when you go downtown to the jackson square area and extends towards the steel factories. But areas like Westdale near the university is full of wealthy whites. You just don't see the wealthy people as much because they are driving. :) There are a few places off the top of my head that have some amazing homes which I am sure are not in the price range of the stroller pushing smoke hags.
Without a proper downtown core you have no city. There are lots of nice suburban sprawls in Detroit but only the brave or naive venture into its decaying urban cesspool.

I occasionally venture into Hamilton's downtown...it is nearly as bad as Detroit.

Maybe if the guy was working Sundays he would get double time and that would be 50 an hour. Or with bennefits, etc.

But normal salary?

Never, and certainly not 10 years ago.

I've been to the homes of lots of guys who worked at Stelco. Solid middle class homes, but nowhere near 50 an hour, and not 10 years ago.

Hamilton actually is atractive to a lot of home buyers because the prices for house are still reasonable. And I believe, it's one of the hotter housing markets in Canada (mind you it has nowhere to go but up).

I know 2 couples who were renting in T.O. who kept waiting for the mythical "crash" and finally gave up. One was renting a house around Spadina and Bloor and they are both professionals, but dropping 600 grand for an urban fixer-upper in T.O. was just too expensive for them.

So they moved to Hamilton and found a great place (Victorian, 4 bedrooms, hardwood, urban, lots of character) in Westdale in Hamilton for under 300 grand. Of course, she has to take the GO Train and they are not living in T.O., however, Hamilton is a proper city and I'd sooner move back to the Hammer and live there than I would live in the 905 "burb wasteland" (Vaughan, Markham, Mississauga, Ajax, Newmarket) surrounding Toronto.

Somewhere "highest income best-educated Asians" would stick out like a sore thumb, but not in the same league of shit as Detroit. Just not nice.

Are you sure 300K for a westdale home with 4 bedrooms?!??? Is it a fixer upper? I just did a mls search in the westdale area for 4 bdrm houses and found listings for 500 and 700K.

Either you are generous on what you consider westdale or they were lucky or the house is in terrible shape.
