what specifically is the difference is an "anonymous account" vs just a regular hotmail account using something other than your name obviously? Flame away...
You answered your own question.

Its an additional (apart from your regular e-mail accounts e.g. work & personal) ON LINE e-mail account that you set up specifically for hobbying, that uses NO REFERENCE to your true identity. Its also best if you DON'T have your e-mail client retrieve the mail automatically for you- just in case you DO get an errant message at an inopportune time.

It certainly would. Maybe I really am the only guy on this board using a Gmail account. I'm also just thinking that maybe for us less computer literate site users something more straightforward might be helpful. Now, I'm going to ask a question that will likely bring on the wrath of all computers geeks present...what specifically is the difference is an "anonymous account" vs just a regular hotmail account using something other than your name obviously? Flame away...
You probably are the only guy using "a" gmail account. The rest of us have several.

Exactly. I have 6 e-mail accounts.

1 personal, (family and friends)
1 provided by my ISP which I never use
2 for work
1 for hobby
1 for other on-line activity e.g. POF

Okay. So secondary account. Here is yet again a basic question. When setting up a new account you will still likely have to activate it via an email sent to another account...therefore creating a link. Am I wrong on that?

Geez. I'm not sure how I've ever made it through nearly twenty years of sp'ing. Thanks for all the advice. I'm just saying it might be helpful to have a pop up that says "would you like any notifications at all from terb" an easy yes or no would be great. That's all.
What kind of idiot are you?

  • You sign up to a PRIVATE board.
  • You don't read the terms and conditions
  • You don't go to your profile and change your settings like suggested as soon as you verify you account.
  • You don't listen to people here about how to turn off email sending, pm notifications etc
  • You don't play it smart and use an anonymous email account.
  • You don't even realize that this bulletin board software is not designed by TERB but bought for TERB. Therefore they have no fucking control over creating a pop up menu for you. Which you probably would not get anyways because you probably have a piece of software on your computer already to stop pop ups.

And it is TERBs fault???? Ok buddy.

A sign of today's society is right. All the entitlement yet so so wrong. In your settings is the option to turn off all types of notifications from emails to PM etc. Can't figure it out? Look for the FAQs on this board.

Thanks for my morning laugh. I laughed at this last night when you first wrote it. Now 4 pages of your whining. Made me laugh even more.

Get a life if you can't get a clue.

Yes, I believe you are wrong. They may ask you for additional information such as a mobile number or an existing email account. Just leave those blocks empty and see what happens. If you are not happy with the way gmail walks you through setting up an email account, go to yahoo or hotmail or wherever. Oh yes, also be sure to use a fake name.

Signed, your friend, Fuji Pipelayer. If you need more information you can contact me at fujipipelayer@yahoo.se or call me at (809) 987-6543. See how it works?

Depends but just delete that email containing the link after you click on it. Empty trash and voila! Rocket science?

Sorry Toughb, but the internet has been around for 20 years now. If people can not figure out that they have to work within it instead of wanting everything changed to work for them, that is there fault.

It is not wolfpack, it is common sense among common users. There is a difference. This guy is clueless and instead of learn for himself or simply and politely ask a question, he starts with anger, negativity, and most of self entitlement while putting down and insulting others. Seems only fair he gets this negativity thrown right back at him.

I'm not really worried about the herd mentality here at all. As for femme fatale...angry much? Reread my posts. Thank you 4tees, you have recapped my situation well. From time to time you leave Gmail open inadvertently. Not expecting, And having notification settings minimized still led me to receive a notice from this site. Ms fatale and eddie401, while you were playing video games and reading computer manuals, I was busy fucking girls and playing sports.

It's not hard to have one anonymous email address which is not automatically connected to the phone or to a mailer.

It is not hard to remember to use private browsing to access it.

It is not hard to remember its user name and password.

It is not hard to remember to log out and clear the cache after, if necessary.

If you don't do the above, don't hobby.

Now it might be nice to hear from an objective mod if even with my notifications OFF, whether terb sends notifiers when the box is APPROACHING FULL. Which is exactly what I got, with settings OFF.

They have so many ways to customize your profile, why can't there be an option for having zero emails from Terb?

99pct of this is done 99pct of the time.

Femme fatale, I'm not so sure you are painting a nice picture of your own character. Let's see what the admin/mods answer regarding the exact issue in question. As i haven't ever met you, I'm very certain you shouldn't make assumptions about the size of my cock.

It needs a clear answer from admin first. I could give a flying Fuck if it comes from vbulletin or a terb admin, but it should be answered for all members so they my be aware. I'm sure. Slight modification to the software would be possible to allow for a choice to be made to receive NO notifications ever.
