He has to leave the city. It’s absolutely disgusting how the police lied to try to destroy his life and no doubt they will keep an eye on him and his family.
As pointed out in a previous post, the chief of police has changed his tune. Although he said “ closure cannot come at the expense of justice”, that won’t be the attitude of most cops.He has to leave the city. It’s absolutely disgusting how the police lied to try to destroy his life and no doubt they will keep an eye on him and his family.

Tory has backed down on his earlier statement and called it a "learning moment for me".Finally, Chief Demkiw made a more appropriate statement. I wonder if this was composed by a professional crisis management consultant or written by him, from the heart?
Either way, I respect him for following up and sort of apologizing. Making mistakes is fine. But not admitting to them or digging yourself deeper is inexcusable. As the Three Lymigos are likely going to find out once the OPP investigates their sworn testimony, note making party etc.
Also, I should retract my precious misstatement and clarify that It was not Chief Demkiw that made the original accusatory and prejudicial public statement back in 2021. It was, then-interim Chief Ramer who shot off his mouth. He was in good company with the unrepentant Premier Ford, Mayor Tory and the other political whores who put politics over the presumption of innocence and respect for the Canadian Judicial system.

Diamond is a personal injury claim mill and would not have accepted the case.I have enjoyed reading and following this news story, and the two threads - this one and the older one "TPS officer killed..."
A question I have is - had Zameer not been able to hire and pay for Hasan, the high powered reputable defense lawyer - would the verdict have been as favourable for him? What if he used Legal Aid, or Diamond&Diamond
Is the quality of your defense team going to make a huge impact? Most people would hire the best lawyer they can afford of course, but what if?
I feel badly for this guy and his family and what he's been thru. I contributed to his GoFund me page, hope he raises the $200K he needs for the lawyers. Just can't imagine if that happened to me if I was in the same situation... guaranteed I would have put the pedal to the metal and got my family to safety
I am guessing that Pais is about to transition to the "private security industry" from being a TPS member.https://www.gofundme.com/f/all-i-hope-for-is-justice At $198.8K now...hopefully will surpass $200k
The 2 lying cops were told not to contact each other but then they texted each other anyway. One claimed they texted the other because they needed a plumber! Could Hasan not have got the text messages from BELL, Rogers etc. and confirmed whether they were colluding or not? Likely thought of that but decided not to use it.
Doubt anything will happen except for 're-training' but at least 1 of those cops need to lose their jobs for lying and for punching a handcuffed guy.
When asked whether striking a handcuffed person was consistent with his training, Pais (1 of the lying cops) told the court officers are authorized "to strike people to gain compliance." I wonder if that is true about their training.

I had this discussion with my SO and basically said if it happened to her I would second mortgage if necessary and she agreed. No way do I risk my or her freedom.I have enjoyed reading and following this news story, and the two threads - this one and the older one "TPS officer killed..."

IMHO, without an excellent lawyer like Hasan, Zameer might have been found guilty?? It also helped that Justice Anne Molloy told the jury that the Crown's case was weak!!I have enjoyed reading and following this news story, and the two threads - this one and the older one "TPS officer killed..."

Whether we like or dislike them is not the question. The question is can they be trusted to have professional integrity? Can they be trusted to be not corrupt? Will the people who are supposed to provide a service to citizens, actually victimize them instead of just doing their jobs? This is not even about Zameer. How many other cases have they testified and made shit up and fucked people over, when they got their stories straight ?So what's the consensus here, do you all like the TPS now more or less after this case and verdict?
Do you trust them more, less or the same?
I am sure Hasan actually reached out to the family and sought to represent them because he himself is Muslim (sounds like it from his name), the same as his client. And also because this is a high profile case involving the death of a police officer at the hands of an immigrant Muslim, and that too right after the Veltman incident. Pretty sure he offered a huge discount as well.I have enjoyed reading and following this news story, and the two threads - this one and the older one "TPS officer killed..."

Schlong you do you, i will do me. Or check that, one of the girls from SFT will do me.Sorry if someone in your family needs help.
But have you ever considered that maybe Mr @Kautilya 's family is ok? Or that he has already taken care of them? Or that he feels that $200 that he might spend an a blowjob might give him more personal satisfaction by donating it to a fellow human being and his family who could use some help?
Personally, I find it stranger that someone resents a kind person doing something nice for a stranger.
But hey, you do you and we'll do us.
Perhaps a private secure institution would be more approriate?I am guessing that Pais is about to transition to the "private security industry" from being a TPS member.
The same. That is, not so much.So what's the consensus here, do you all like the TPS now more or less after this case and verdict?

I remember talking to this dude who started off copping and jumped teams and got his law degree. He said there was a LOT of internal politics and being made to "toe the line".The same. That is, not so much.
I believe that almost all cops are well intentioned and got on the job to do good work. But the few that are fuckwad assholes and corrupt cops that make headlines are protected by the FAT blue line. And therefore, the good guys in blue protecting the bad guys in blue discredits the entire organization.
I guess only time will tell.Kinda too high profile for the old "Transfer him to a desk job out in 22 Division and no one will remember who he is in 3 years' time."
I'm a lot of coppers believe that he should have been charged. They just can't say it to the public.I really doubt that.
No single cop will dare risk trying to make life difficult for him in any way. There would be unbelievable scrutiny of whatever and whomever bothered him.
However, that doesn't mean he will not live in fear of it and in fear of his infamy.
You make a very good point. The truth is there is simply no way a legal aid funded defense would have gotten him a walk. That lawyer worked round the clock for 3 years on this case. Legal aid has a cap and I'm sure it was very low.I have enjoyed reading and following this news story, and the two threads - this one and the older one "TPS officer killed..."

I think he'll be ok
