If you want to grow your own, the best thing is to get baby plants from cuttings. You know exactly what you're going to get. Growers down here have quite the network...

Yeah, you want ALL of your plants to be females. If you plant seeds, chances are that you'll get close to a 50%/50% ratio of female to male plants.

Better to get clones from reputable growers otherwise you have to start seeds indoors under proper lights months ahead of time. That’s a pain in the ass.
Good clones are $10-$20 each.
Way better.

Is it worthwhile growing your own stone these days unless you smoke a lot?

I have a buddy who is a licensed micro grower and I went through a lot of work to turn his trimmings and shake into oil. And another friend grew 6 plants one year and ended up with so much work that she said she'd rather just buy a few ounces of whatever she wanted throughout the year.

I stopped vaping after a year or so and don't "partake" any more. Overall, it didn't make my life better and actually made it worse. Fucking munchies put 15-20 lbs on m e in a year! Fuck that! lol

But, back to my question. Is it worth it economically? Or is it just fun to cultivate and grow like tomatoes?

I bought seeds from the Seed Pharm and had limited success with germination last season, and nearly zero success this season. All feminised auto flower seeds.

I grow my own tomatoes, basil, peppers (hot) and beans.

Part of a large network of licenced growers under the ACMPR licence here.
A lot of our locations grow strains that are popular in Cali so our network down in Cali actually send over the clones for us to stress test first but I know if you have your medical licence you’re able to go to micro nursery’s and purchase from them - they usually have some sort of guarantee and your able to see the mother plant as well.

For the recreational side better of using a website that has good reviews or even simply OCS if you’re in Ontario

Could you explain how the system works where there is a loophole/benefit of a medical licence holder entering into an agreement with a grower. I seem to recall there was andthat it involved surplus or something but I can't recall.

No real benifiet besides real time pricing on large volume. Prices will jump thru the seasons like stock prices jump as the weeks go buy. Winter time is cheaper summer time is more expensive

winter time prices plummet if you request to buy by the lb (assuming the licence holder does)

Your friend is partially right where recreational offers more variety from many different growers - however there are some underground operators who wholesale to brokers that can offer 8-9 different strains in high volume. You’d want to look for companies who can produce about 7-8 tonns a year because they most likely are not growing all the same strain. Each location can have let’s say 6 room and can have one strain per room. Most operators won’t sell you under a zip and if they do it would make sense to price along side OCS or a bit less

the other benifiet is free trim. A grower can offer you high quality trim from hand trim as samples to try. Most people/clients who know what they’re doing buy nothing less of 100p of trim to create stuff like hash and extract keef and so on for trim you rarely see any agreements under 250p

Besides that for consumption you’re better off in the recreational space for variety. This is purely for consumption purposes

For I guess a lack of a better term - monetary / medical licence purposes , you’d need to find a grower who can supply you - and I’m not talking those brokers who pretend to be first hand. We’re talking actual growers where if you wanted 50-100p next day you’d get it , and if it’s not available you’d be able to put a deposit for the next cut.

I think it's Danforth and Bastedo .... for seedlings. I grow my own and cook it in coconut oil, strain and eat it.

You can also take stem cutting form a very good plant and make it grow roots.
