No Kawhi Leonard being eliminated from the playoffs talk?

It was a trending topic today on Twitter where Raptors people were basically celebrating The Clippers blowing a 3 to 1 lead, and being eliminated. It was interesting, the whole “thanks for a championship you were great I understand you’re going home - can’t blame a guy for wanting to go home” turned into “not so easy to win the championship is it? Thought you were so great with your superstar team. I bet you wish you stayed with the Raptors now. You needed them as much as they needed you.”

"The Clippers sent three first-round picks, three pick swaps, promising second-year guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and forward Danilo Gallinari to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for George.22 hours ago"

George could walk after next year.

Only morons and losers will mock Kawhi because his team lost after he chose to play in his hometown and serve the community he grew up in. They should be mocking the wretched Maple Leafs who haven’t won the Stanley Cup in 53 years.
Pastry Chefs, you wanna talk about Pastry Chefs! They'll be lucky to make the playoffs next year. As I said in another thread, the Pastry Chefs havent been to the Stanley Cup since 1967. Taking the factor of probability into account, they will easily surpass the Chicago Cubs record of futility. Ballard's ghost is stong, the Leafs might win the Cup in 2077...and that's a positive projection.

I love Kawhi, I would never diss him. However I am supporting Jamal Murray and the Nuggets, his time has come. I hope they do The Italian Job on the Lakers.

I was there.

Kindergarten kids were chanting the name Kawhi Leonard. He had folks who didn’t know or care about basketball glued to their TVs. Jurassic Parks sprung up all across Canada in ecstasy to watch the Raptors because of him. He made one of the most iconic shots in sports to move the Raptors past the 76ers. He singlehandedly delivered the NBA championship to a franchise that had never made even the conference championship. The parade of the trophy brought the city to a near halt. Vince Carter, Chris Bosh, Demar DeRozan and this year Pascal Siakam, none of them could do it.

I'm not going to diss Kawhi Leonard just because he left TO...I'm going to give credit where credit is due...Jokic and Murray is the modern day Stockton-Malone. They make their teammates better and their system work. Add that to the fact that Doc Rivers is one of the most overrated coach in the NBA. Him and His son don't deserve the hype they both get. Rivers let his superstars play individually...If that was Greg Pop coaching the Clippers. It would've been a different series.

Jokic is the best all round center to ever play the game. He can pass like no other, shoot from far or in the low post and rebound with the best of them. And Murray is shooting like Michael Jordan and Kobe. Both can adjust their game according to the team's requirements. They are not the modern day Stockton-Malone. They are far superior.

Only 13 teams in NBA history have lost a series when up 3-1. Doc Rivers is responsible for 3 of those collapses. The Clippers led by 16, 19 and 12 in games 5, 6 and 7 respectively and couldnt close out the Nuggets. He is gone!
yeah, I wouldn't put the blame on the players except one...pat beverly. In game 7 Clippers were ahead by 2. He drove to the hoop, missed the lay up. instead of going back on D, he complained to the ref leading to a 5 vs. 4 run by nuggets that left one player open for a 3. that was the turn around that Nuggets never looked back after.

So kindergarten kids are the best judges of NBA talent?

The Raptors proved this year that they are a real team even without him. They gave him a ring at least as much as he gave them one. He may have been the brightest star but he in absolutely no way carried the team all by himself, as your post seems to make it sound. The results of the Clippers this year proves that he cannot do it single handedly.

Kawhi was the deciding factor but not the whole story last year. OG subbed well for him while he was on load management and Kyle always had his back in the playoffs. Let's not be too hard on Pascal, the Celtics locked him down. When Kawhi was there he had plenty of room to operate. He crushed Dreymond Green in the Final forcing KD to play.

I spoke with Warriors fans, their classiness surprised me. They made no excuses and were downright embarrassed by the conduct of their part owner and the police department.

Kawhi Leonard is the on

Kawhi Leonard is the one who made almost every single critical play needed by the Raptors up until the Championship round when he was double teamed and others contributed equally as well. Game in point. Game 3 against the Bucks, 2OT, when a loss could have doomed the Raptors. A steal, rebound, pass, one critical score after another: he did it all. He wasnt a guard but he was the one handling the ball in crunch time throughout. No one came even remotely close to the critical plays he made to secure the Championship.
All that is well and good, but my point still stands. He needed the rest of the team to support him. He was not a one man show last year, nor was he this year. The Raps without him did as well as the Clips with him.

Not much Kawhi love on this forum. For me I was blown away with is overall performance with the Raps last year. I do not think that coming to Toronto was on his wish list at all but he accepted it and played great. Without Leonard no championship.

This is what happens when you let your loser uncle run your life.

He had it made over here. The whole country was his.

Now you are on a overrated and underachieving franchise, in a city where you will never be as big as the competition.

I love Kawhi, always will. His Einstein moment is in this compilation. I'm still holding out hope, as Arnold said, "he'll be back".

It has been widely speculated that Kawhi has Apserger Syndrome. As does Bill Gates among others. I have dealt with this condition in my family and completely believe he
has AS. Incredibly focused on a single task or area of interest, social awkwardness, perceived selfishness, uncomfortable when given direct questions. Check marks to all.

Kawhi looked old during the Clippers-Nuggets series. He missed several uncontested shots in the Game 7, shots he buried consistently last year. Is he on a decline or was it just a one-off?
....poor guy practically needed a walker after The Raptors won it all. I don’t see his five-year window being very productive and injury free.

There is your answer. Without who else would there have been no championship? No one else.
It was a symbiotic relationship. They needed each other. That dynamic was not in place this year and neither achieved the same level of success. The logical conclusion was that Leonard with the Raps was better than Leonard with the Clips. He needed a better supporting cast than LA could provide him.

For sure he was the best player.

I guess my only issue was this one line " He singlehandedly delivered the NBA championship to a franchise that had never made even the conference championship".

I love Kawhi, poor guy. He was so banged up after giving 110% that he didn't even attempt to lift his MVP Trophy. It's one thing while you're partying, once you've sat down you feel it.

As the old lady in Blazing Saddles said, "Isn't anyone going to help that poor man".
