not always sure...
I didn't say they don't have a lot of hotels but they don't have as many in the vicinity of where they will be training and playing
If the players are kept in a bubble they won't be allowed to walk on crowded downtown streets to the arena so they'll be bussed 500 metres in Toronto or 1500 metres in Vancouver; that's not significant.
If the players were asked to vote on which city they'd prefer to be isolated in a hotel for 4 months they'd choose the waterfront Vancouver hotels, hands down.

Columbus is out, that pushes Toronto up, also increases chances of two Canadian hubs
Looks like the league would like to name Toronto as a hub but the initial bid was full of inadequacies and a bubble that was full of holes, so the league is working with them.
The Maple Leaf group was re-approached with a bunch of questions and concerns and Toronto resubmitted their bid today, presumably more to the league's specifications.

The Edmonton bid looks really good: a fully quarantined off Olympic village-type area with entertainment and catered food, etc. They're looking at it as a major event, considering no fans are allowed.

Vegas looks favoured because the bubble they proposed is bullet-proof.

Vancouver is now out of the picture as a hub city. In addition the league announced today the salary cap could remain at $81.5 million for the next 3 seasons.

This, I think, is very bad news for TML fans. Something's gonna have to give somewhere...

Dubas will be pleased; the only other possibility is that the salary cap would have gone down. 40% of league revenue is through gate receipts so what’ll give is the players percentage of escrow. The players will be the unhappy ones.

I dunno. I suspect he was counting on it going up to create room to maneuver a bit. He won't be able to keep everyone, sign anyone new, and stay both under the cap and advance their chances of winning a cup too. Some popular face(s) may need to be shipped out.

Andersen and Hyman become UFA in 2021.
Morgan Rielly becomes UFA in 2022.
Dermott is RFA this year. (Dubas has a history of paying RFA's like UFA's.)

Excellent point.
I'm glad someone brought this up.
No one has ever mentioned that before, on TERB.

I was agreeing with John Wick and chuckertmg. Two gentlemen who actually know hockey. As usual, your post adds no value to the conversation.

Believe it or not a placeholder team has won the draft lottery. That means the 8 teams that get eliminated in the first round of the playoffs will each get a 12.5 % chance of winning the first pick.

Technically it's the play-in round, not the first round of the playoffs.
