In the East, conference final is likely to be Washington vs New Jersey. I predict the Pens to make a first round exit, and the Sabres only have Miller with not one forward who has more than 25 goals. Lack of a quality sniper means Buffalo will probably fall in round 2.
If Vanek can score 4 goals in every game like he did in Ottawa, the Sabres will win the Cup. LOL!!!

will pick 1-4 in the east.

1,2,3,5 in the west. la is confident after beating the canucks last week 8-3. let's get real here. la beat the canucks cause they didn't dress half their starting team! in the previous 3 games the kings scored 3 goals total against the canucks and obviously lost all 3 games.

I don't feel like analyzing each round. I'll just go with Detroit to win the whole thing.
They seem to have the hottest goalie in the league right now and Mike Babcock has got them peaking at the right time.

I don't have good feelings about any Eastern Conference team.
Washington is closest but they have sub par goaltending which leaves them vulnerable.

If this is Detroit peaking, than I definitely don't see them lasting until the conference finals... Vancouver, Nashville, San Jose and Colorado are all playing alot more urgent right now. Det/Phx is a good, entertaining game right now, but both teams are showing alot of weaknesses.

We are only a week and a half into the playoffs but I have to say that so far, even though the quality of the play is not quite at Olympic level, almost all of the games have been very compelling to watch. Very few blowouts. We have upsets, we have overtimes, we have high scoring and low scoring games. All the games have been competitive with a lot of good skating.

I just hope there are not too many upsets as it tends to make for less interesting matchups later on. Aside from that the playoffs have been a good product.

Perhaps with the exception of game 2 of Bruins vs Sabres eh??? After Vanek got injured upon being slashed by Boston rookie defenseman Johnny Boychuck and slammed heavily into the board, the Sabres suddenly melt down and played like headless chcken. The result was a 5-3 loss to the ruthless Bruins despite leading 2-0 in the first period. It showed that this Sabres team has no character, no heart, no grit, and no true leadership. A good team and a cup contender would suck it up, step to the plate, and win the game and the series despite losing their best scorer. If the Sabres coaches and the players cannot correct this defeatist attitude quickly, Boston will win the series and Sabres will go for an early exit. This sissy team just want to prove its GM (Darcy Regier) is full of crap in saying that the stupid Buffalo Sabres are playoff contenders.

LOL, the good doc has written off the Sabres since they lost to the mighty Senators three years ago in the conference finals. They were a little better when they had their co-captains Drury and Briere then but not enough grit and passion to win the Cup. They would sleep walk for most of the game but towards the end had enough fire power to win games. These days they often play like they have lost their heart and soul but cannot muster enough offensive power to win anything. Against the offensively challenged Bruins, the Sabres are a better team on paper. Games 1,2,3, & 4 were really one goal games. The Sabres could have won them all if they were more focused, play with more domination, passion, grit, and desire to win. Instead they dug themselves a huge hole by losing the series 1 to 3. If they play the last two games just like they played game 5 last night, there is still hope that they may defeat the big bad Bruins in 7 games.

Buffalo is a hockey crazed town. The good doc just feel bad for the faithful Buffalo fans who have not been rewarded with a better team and ownership than the just to make a profit Sabres organization. GM Darcy Regier needs to go if the Sabres are serious about winning the Cup, as he is not Stanley Cup GM material.

So New Jersey (2nd seed), Buffalo (3rd seed), Ottawa (5th seed) of the Eastern Conference are now all gone with the wind. New Jersey's head coach just decided to retire. Guess none of the senior management / coaching staff in Ottawa seems to want to resign. But what about Buffalo??? Boston has a very hot goaltender, one of the reasons Boston sent Buffalo packing. Not being able to win a game in the enemy territory and the inability to score power play goals really did the Sabres in. If the Sabres are serious about being a cup contender, get rid of some of his 'top' six forwards (Connolly, Stafford, etc) and the still dreaming they are cup contender GM Regier.

Wow I guess Montreal was going to win the caps in game 7
Lemme guess. time to put Carey Price in goal
Montreal's game was almost flawless last night, but can they do it on the road, YES! I was surprised, but glad, to see the solo dive calls last night. Two were legit, the last not so much. It put the players on notice front the next time these officials work their games. I don't remember the last solo dive call this season.

Go Habs!!

Montreal put up a big effort to not get eliminated at home. I hope I am wrong, but I predict an easy Caps win.
I am surprised Montreal pushed it this far. If Montreal does pull it off, they get Pittsburgh next.

the second & third dive calls were a total joke, and how can you call tripping and a dive on the same play? If he was tripped, then how can it be a dive!

The Montreal player embellished the trip. Both calls were warranted.
